On 4th September 1990 Thames, revised its onscreen logo which was used on the idents, this was part of a wide scale changes which included the local news and the introduction of a new local ident, ( AKA the one that was used non stop after dumping ITV 1989 ident)

I've come across the ident being used in march 1991 for local programmes, however it the exactly the same

When it first appeared did it have a slightly key and then change rather quickly to the one we all know?   Or was the version we all know used form the very start in September 1990? the one in the private YT clip just a test case?

The new season of BIg Brother Canada begins tomorrow. The biggest change this season is they have decided to drop the livefeeds and instead they will post "hours and hours of video online called Video Dailies. Its been a huge thing withing the BBCAN fandom. They claim its to protect the houseguests mental health. From what I gather from host and exec producer Arisa Cox, the team that produces the show didnt want this change but they were pushed by Global, the network, to do it. She is a super fan and feeds watcher like us. So I know she wasnt happy about it either. The fans are not happy. (I type more, but Im personally disgusted, as they dont have a great track record of putting together a good story edit)
ANYWHOOoooo.
The new house has been posted tour with Host/Exec Prod Arisa Cox has been posted. The theme this year is a mysterious house. Apparently there is meant to be secrets in the walls. Sounds like Traitors, but its likely this was already in the works before Traitors became a hit. SO there's that comparison. They have done some reconstruction work. Not a lot. Basically the stair case has completely been reconfigured. It fits the theme. I  have to say they did art deco well. Because Celebrity Big Brother did a grand art deco look and of course everything was completely dark and drab. This is art deco done right. One area that bears watching is the library... as you'll see in the video tour.

Main entrance and living view with new staircase doorway. The library is the door on the lower floor to the right, that used to be the old HAVE-NOT room the door to the right should still be the diary room entrance. It seem as though the nomination room has been removed. It was always located to the left. Seems to be a sitting nook. On the upper to the left of the entrance is the communal bathroom and 2 bedrooms are located off to the left. The double doors to the right is the HOH room. The stairs used to descend down just to the right of the HOH door.  Seems there is a balcony that goes around the entire upper level. Buts its hard to confirm as we havent seen a shot of the livingroom from the main door.

Today, Gogglebox celebrates its tenth anniversary.

Who would've thought that a show where the British public watch other members of the British public watching TV would do so well?

Also very exciting news - Gogglebox favourites Steph and Dom as well as Sandi and Sandra will return to the show for a one-off 90 minute special featuring old faces and current favourites.

What are your memories of Gogglebox and who are your favourite families past and present?

I was pleasantly surprised to hear a little while ago that The Young Ones was being treated to an anniversary release on Blu-ray, containing a bunch of new special features. I was a little curious as to why they'd released it on BD instead of DVD, considering the majority of the show was shot on videotape. Nevertheless, according to the reviews, everyone who's bought it seems happy with it.

Amazon have since recommended a bunch of other Blu-ray releases - Red Dwarf, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses, Flying Circus... Some of which are proudly proclaiming on their front cover that they're on Blu-ray for the first time. I guess it's set off some kind of trend.

I haven't exactly combed through every episode of these shows, but I'm pretty sure they were all mostly shot on video which, as most of us know, cannot be natively upscaled like film can. Does anyone know if any upscaling tricks are being used on these releases to render them in HD? Or are they simply relying on the higher bitrate to get better quality out of the final product?

For me, Regional BBC One finally going HD does seem to be the end of the very long road for HD adoption. It symbolises that HD is finally the standard broadcasting definition for the majority of people. It does beg the question, with the eventual plan to shut down BBC One in standard definition, how long will it take other broadcasters to take initiative, and shut down their SD services? For me, it should be quite a quick turnaround, but progress is always delayed for one reason or another.

Seems like the bugs on CBeebies according to the test website are going to get a redesign, and I am in love with this!

My Sky TV  contract is coming up for renewal and the price for staying still is going up by £12 a month for their best deal for me, which isn’t really worth it for Sky Signature + Movies since most of the watching we do continues to be on the terrestrial channels and with the dilution of rights caused by the various streaming services, Sky Movies is no longer the goldmine of content and classics it used to be. It’s actually not worth even what Disney+ charges as a standalone product.

So the question is, having been with Sky for such a long time, are the current gen Freesat boxes comparable? Can you install Amazon Prime, Disney+ and Netflix apps on it, and they work well?

I will give Sky credit, the SkyQ box is a good experience, mine drops connection now and again, but the UI is about as you can make it.

I’m just a the point with all the price rises, paying all that per month to watch 95% of the content i can get for free is not super smart, and i say that after being a Sky customer for nearly 25 years.

Watching Gogglebox on Sky Q and the subtitles are very noticeably out of sync and often freezing. Anyone else seeing this?
