Isn't UHD 8 times the amount of raw data as HD, not 4? It's 4 times the resolution, but also progressive rather than interlaced, which doubles it.

Though I think Germany do use 1080p50 for their main channels, so that does remove the last part if it's being produced that way.

Is surprising they've stepped back on UHD - think it's the default for the Olympics and Paralympics.

That's on ZDF. Other broadcasters include the tournament logo to the left of the score board. Here is the one from TF1 in France:

UHD is double the width and hight as 1080p ... so it's 4 times the data  Wink

Germany uses 1080p50 on terrestrial. Sat and cable are still 720p ... which is how most people in Germany will watch it, as the marketshare of terrestrial TV is at a negligible 3.5%.

Also even you're watching in Germany on terrestrial it isn't guaranteed to actually be 1080p. The playout of ZDF still runs in 720p, so all you get is an upscale. ARD and RTL at least seem to run in 1080, but weither its native 1080p or 1080i converted to 1080p is not known.

Is that a different space to last night?

Just to say the BBC titles were the same concept as their trailer with the pinball machine. Look great but don't feel as specific to the tournament as the ITV ones.

Their outdoor space seemed to have a virtual floor too.

It is, I was thinking of it compared to 1080p:

720p / 1080i 1.5Gbps
1080p 3Gbps
2160p 12Gbps

3G is often used in broadcasting a shorthand for handling 1080p. So if you ever see a reference to it make it to air (BT Tower bars being a common example), that’s what it’s referring to, not the mobile standard.

There are some HD facilities that were built to allow for 3Gbps signals, so moving to that isn’t as difficult an upgrade. Although it’s quite common to find a mix of older kit and infrastructure that can and can’t.

Ahh, that looks far better.

Elsewhere, FOX Sports haven't heard of a red card graphic.
With the subs remaining graphics, it looks a bit too busy up in that corner for Fox.

Must say I find ITV’s graphics to be brilliant, so simple, inoffensive, and the perfect size on the screen. Really hope they’d use this design as a basis for all their other football (and possibly other sports) coverage.

I could see it being replicated but in that shade of ITV Sport green and it looking very nice - I’m really not a fan of the current football graphics on ITV.

Yes, I was confused too. I didn't realise ITV's stand up studio is actually large balcony area with a background open to the elements.

I wonder why both broadcasters chose to opt for outdoor and indoor studios. Not complaining, but it seems a little... unnecessary?
