Yes ... if they are able to get HDR that is. Normal HD broadcast channels can't do HDR as it wasn't part of the spec. So for the BBC and ITV if they want to offer HDR it probably would by via streaming.

The BBC really need a ref pundit particularly if by the time the Euros start the PL has axed VAR.

RE: UEFA Euro 2024 - RhysJR - 19-05-2024

John Murray on 5 Live this afternoon confirmed that Thomas Frank and David Moyes will be part of the 5 Live team next month. David Moyes is also set to be on talkSPORT, so will be interesting to see how much/little he does for both broadcasters.

On another BBC note, I infer from her comments to the likes of Rio Ferdinand recently on the Sports Agents podcast that Gabby Logan will be in Germany.

The full talkSPORT commentary team has also been announced. Moyes, Ashley Young and Emmanuel Petit will join a team of regular talkSPORT network broadcasters such as Jeff Stelling, Ally McCoist, Alan Brazil, Adrian Durham, Hugh Woozencroft, Natalie Sawyer, Darren Bent, Stuart Pearce, Gabby Agbonlahor with Alan Pardew and Graeme Souness.

England commentaries will be lead by Jim Proudfoot with Faye Carruthers as the in camp reporter. Joe Shennan, Chris Iwelumo and Shebahn Aherne will do likewise for Scotland's games.

I was driving at the time so may have misheard, but my interpretation of what John Murray said was that Moyes will be on BBC television rather than 5 Live.

RE: UEFA Euro 2024 - RhysJR - 22-05-2024

BBC press release is here.

Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan, Mark Chapman and Alex Scott to present on TV with Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard, Cesc Fabregas, Micah Richards, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Williams, Ellen White, Rachel Corsie, James McFadden, Wayne Rooney, Joe Hart, Thomas Frank and David Moyes as pundits. Danny Murphy, Martin Keown and Jermaine Jenas are listed as co-commentators, with James McFadden and Alan Shearer (who will be in the booth for England v. Denamrk) also on commentary. On commentary will be Guy Mowbray, Robyn Cowen, Vicki Sparks, Steve Wilson, Steve Bower and Jonathan Pearce. Presumably Simon Brotherton will be with the world feed again. Kelly Somers and Eilish Barbour will be the England and Scotland camp reporters. Alex Scott hosts the network highlights, with Jonathan Sutherland hosting Sportscene highlights.

Kelly Cates and Steve Crossman present in 5 Live with Mark Chapman. John Murray, Ian Dennis, Alistair Bruce-Ball and Vicki Sparks will be on commentary, with Chris Sutton, Matthew Upson, Pat Nevin, Izzy Christiansen, Conor Coady and Dion Dublin, Theo Walcott, Clinton Morrison, Paul Robinson, Jose Fonte, Jen Beattie, Robert Huth, Stephen Warnock and Mario Melchiot all featuring.

On iPlayer,a new Euros pop-up channel will be launched with additional content, highlights etc.

Plenty of good names as ever. Ashley Williams there despite Wales not qualifying, but is a regular name across BBC coverage now. Good to see Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman get on the TV coverage. Pleased to see Alan Shearer will be the England co-commentator as I do enjoy his work on commentary, and personally I find him an upgrade on the other options. Nice to see Kelly Cates back on the radio as well after missing Euro 2020 to be with ESPN. Hopefully the iPlayer channel's content is not too repetitive and will be something worth having on at quiet points during the week.

RE: UEFA Euro 2024 - RhysJR - 22-05-2024

And the ITV press release is also out.

Mark Pougatch and Laura Woods will present, meaning Seema Jaswal is absent (hope she is okay after missing the snooker as well). Pundits announced are Ian Wright, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Karen Carney, Graeme Souness, Eni Aluko, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou and Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl. Unlike the BBC, they will have a refereeing analyst in the form of CBS' Christina Unkel. She is a good hire from the short clips I've seen of her on their Champions League coverage. Commentators are Sam Matterface, Clive Tyldesley, Seb Hutchinson, Pien Meulensteen and Joe Speight who will be alongside Lee Dixon, Ally McCoist, and Andros Townsend. No Jon Champion sadly, despite him featuring at the World Cup. Gabriel Clarke and Connie McLauchlin will be the England and Scotland camp reporters, with Celina Hinchliffe also featuring.

I'm surprised Danny Röhl is the only German named between the two broadcasters on TV. Thinking back to Euro 2016, it felt like ITV had half tbe France team from 15 years beforehand. I would suspect Jürgen Klinsmann pops up on the BBC coverage when he becomes available.

RE: UEFA Euro 2024 - JACKLUFC1998 - 22-05-2024

According to SPFL Media Watch on Twitter/X, BBC Scotland is to do their own coverage of the BBC's two live Scotland games. Jonathan Sutherland will be presenting, Liam McLeod on commentary and Neil McCann on co-commentary. The alternative commentary on the 2 matches will both be shown on BBC One Scotland.

Thanks for that. I missed that originally but did see that mentioned on a re-read of the BBC press release. No Scottish commentator (i.e. Rob MacLean from Euro 2020) on the BBC network team means an English commentator likely to be heard on network coverage of Scotland.

Likewise, I also missed that ITV X will have a pop-up Euros channel like iPlayer, with some Euro 96 content is a difference between those two offerings.

STV has also announced 'their' coverage plans. Word for word what ITV said bar quotes from an STV exec not an ITV exec. No mention of their own coverage of Scotland games, unlike last time, which I'm a little surprised by.

RE: UEFA Euro 2024 - lookoutwales - 22-05-2024

I don't think STV have even bothered to mount their own coverage - whenever they've been able to show Scotland live - for some years now.

Their sports department was disbanded around the time Scotsport ended and whatever local programming is produced since then (usually Scotland Tonight or What's On Scotland) has been produced by the newsroom.

Growing ever more curious as to why Seema Jaswal appears to have dropped out from some major presenting gigs of late.

For Euro 2020, STV did do their own coverage for the two Group D stage games involving Scotland that were being shown on ITV/STV (one of which was England v Scotland).

On both occasions they used some basic standing positions in the stadium, like shown here: https://www.tvliveforum.com/showthread.php?tid=297&pid=21830#pid21830

For everything else, they took the normal ITV coverage.
