£5 billion pounds of income,  £3+billion from UK household taxation.

The BBC hasn't been reduced to absolutely nothing by anybody.  It's CHOSEN to spend money on little used podcasts, identikit online content and lower skill online journalism instead of crafted Broadcasting

Is there any news on the technical logistics of the new channel? Will the NC have a "proper master control" that originates from Red Bee pres for playing out recorded programmes, trailers and advertisements from March 6, just like WN currently? Or it will still continue the way it is, with the galleries in NBH handling all of the output directly, including the trails and recorded programmes?

It seems like the NC is being distributed directly from the network switchers in NBH, would it take a lot of engineering to switch TX origination to Red Bee pres suite?

Have the TOTH headlines ended already? Just watched 8pm and countdown went straight into titles. Was very odd.

Edit- sting at 8.05. Long pause, “This is BBC News” with box briefly displayed.

Straight into Nigerian Elections, this new merged channel is going to be very different

No - BBC World News are only taking a short bulletin this hour, so titles first is used as a headline sequence would eat too much of the limited bulletin's runtime.

I would assume with all of the new information coming from bbctvthechop's post about the new merged BBC News Channel. It's going to look completely different from now on.

It sounds to me that it's physical layout of the graphics is either going to look very similar to the RTÉ News Channel in Ireland or maybe like Bloomberg in the US. The trouble is though with making this sort of prediction is I have no idea how this idea is going to be sold to viewers who have viewers of the NC and World at present.

We have seen the pushback graphics on the BBC News Channel used on a part time basis on the NC before probably since 2015. But to me this looks like it is going to be implemented on a full time basis to the detriment of the viewers who are going to watch this new look channel.

With very limited output of UK news going forward being featured on the channel from now on. It is going to be major win for Sky News and the other right wing channels. The new online ITVX news channel could get a net gain of viewers if that becomes a success in the short term.

Given cost is being reduced I would have thought they'd stick with the current arrangements.

Nooooo way.... NOOOOOOO.... Basically it's exactly what this mock countdown depicts AHHHH:

It's almost as if the mock maker had some inside knowledge... incredible likeness.

I'd imagine the same system as currently. World has a dedicated Red Bee suite while Channel uses the NBH network routers to opt in and out. The RB suite already has the ability to show different content to different streams, the domestic version of the core channel will just be another playlist on their system to be triggered during promo breaks. I guess this combined channel means the potential to show different lower thirds and tickers is removed as these are generated manually at NBH.

Where did I say it would be a different look? If anything the opposite, except it becoming under the Chameleon branding I don't think much else will change. The "watching box" will only appear on the domestic version when there is a news event anticipated and it will only go full screen once the event starts, for example someone starts speaking or the verdict is about to be given. Otherwise the rest of the time you will get full screen core feed with full graphics and tickers (which are also not changing).

I've been told on good authority that while GALLERY A will be used for the UK opts, it will actually use STUDIO J cameras. So STUDIO A will not be seen under normal circumstances.

<speculation>
I guess in time the technical infrastructure will be changed to have a (maybe virtual/software based - perhaps vMix) GALLERY J which will have full opting ability to avoid the need for a huge gallery to control essentially one camera and microphone plus OSs.
</speculation>

I'm guessing the mocker created that based on the countdown BBC Alba have been using since October 2021. It looks great on there, but really doesn't work so well for news with the current footage.

Just call me psychic...

... though by the sounds of it, they're just doing the same as me and using the same/a similar look as the BBC Alba countdown https://theident.gallery/player.php/BBCALBA-2021-COUNTDOWN-180S-1-020223
