Am I the only one who think it looks like there's an art museum outside the window in the background?

There are paintings and benches to sit on while enjoying the art. It looks odd for a news set.

I’ve always assumed it’s real. Can’t imagine they would install such an odd feature for the set.

Was there something like this when Matt Frei left BBC World News America... or is it because he left BBC for Channel 4?

Anyways, BBC World News crashed to the UK Parliament statement on the Tiktok ban.

Talking about TikTok. The BBC has accounts on it - I wonder they be closed down now?

Parliament doesn’t always show it because sometimes the Commons or Lords is sitting while Politics Live is on but the topic is not important enough to show live on BBC2.

Exactly, and if they're all showing live parliamentary coverage of things like PMQs they're covering it anyway.    Ideally BBC News wouldn't have to simulcast anything, but as they do it's better they have as much UK focused coverage as possible.   Irrelevant now though as the BBC News Channel clearly no longer exists.

Although it may feel it--at the minute--my understanding is that the ban only applies to Govt tech. The state broadcaster is not included in that.

It’s just the optics of them using license fee money on an app the Government considers a security risk.

That seems a non-issue when even the Ministry of Defence has said it will continue to publish (taxpayer funded) content on TikTok “to promote the work of the Armed Forces.”

The room is fake. I always found it weird too and thought that we'd grown out of the "fake rooms behind anchors" look. With that said, it has somewhat grown on me.

The BBC is not a state broadcaster. There is a massive difference between a state broadcaster and a public service broadcaster.
