RE: BBC News Channel/BBC World News Merger - DTV - 22-03-2023

Just noticed some small changes to the post-3rd April schedules on the Partners website:

Sport Today now gone. Although daytime editions had previously been removed, overnight editions (all but the first of which are listed as repeats) have now been replaced by Sportsday - they're presumably moving to a single brand, though with shared editions presumably using the Sport Today format. I expect any daytime Sports updates will be included in BBC News, as on the BBC News channel until recently and Impact until 2019.

World Business Report returns to being scheduled as per now - previously 05:30 and 06:30 editions had disappeared and 11:30 and 14:30 editions had been pushed back to xx:45.

Rest as per initial schedules, including Focus on Africa being listed at 17:30, despite the fact it should be moving to 18:30 UKT after the clocks change.

Only first week currently showing revised schedules, later weeks showing initial schedules (except with Sportsday) at time of writing.
Also note that BBC News and BBC World News are not showing schedules from 1st April on BBC Online, despite other channels now being updated to do so.

It's either the 999th repeat of Click (Short Edition), The Travel Show, or GUIDE DOGS!!! Pick your tea~

Seriously, why does the NC's EPG lists 2230-2300 as "BBC News" every night?  Just put 2240 as "BBC Sport" and 2240-2300 as "Click/The Travel Show/Guide Dogs". It feels like they're trying to mislead something... Same goes for 2330-0000

Is there a schedule page similar to world partners page for domestuc BBC radio and TV? Or just for BBC world?

Oh for god sake - 15 years on and it still survives.  If ever there was a time to refresh the image of BBC News it is probably now - even if it's evolution rather than revolution.  Keeping a look which should have arguably should have been ditched with the move to Broadcasting House in 2012 (given the frequency of prior rebrands) just highlights how neglected BBC News is nowadays.

‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’

The News brand, in terms of visual and sonic identity, is very strong. It still looks good in the new layouts, so why change?

Wow, big ratings for yesterday's "non event".

Tabloid trash always attracts the masses.

Any ratings from India yet? Cool

Seems like Washington will handle overnight bulletins until 0500 on April 3rd. Not so sure if it’ll still be produced by London’s gallery like WNA and Newsday or it’ll be produced natively like ABR…

My guess is that 2300-0200 will be from Singapore for Newsday, 0300-0500 will be from Washington for the generic bulletins.

In long term I think they should consider moving the evening shifts out of London too for cost cutting…

Ask the BBC. They’ve begun to remove the globe from their online assets so it does look like they are moving away from it, albeit slowly.

Personally I have no issue with the globe and sonic identity but that doesn’t mean it should be stuck. I’m sure all of us here would love to see it evolve. An identity can be freshened up without replacing its core concepts.

It’s not the Indian Broadcasting Corporation so who cares!?
