I never thought there’d be a point where people are actually complaining that they have more choice.
Because it isn't actually choice is it?
Two channels showing different things is by definition a greater choice than two channels showing the same thing. I don't know how that could even be debated.

On 7/1 Luxmy Gopal presented the weekend lunchtime bulletin at 12PM, then she reappeared on NC/WN at 2-7PM.

That will get some new names onto BBC One and could help make more newsreaders familiar to a wider audience.

Possibly, but the weekend early shift has been a free-for-all since at least the mid-2000s, if not earlier. Only a handful of those names ever made it onto the main network team.

How is it not choice?

It is a choice, absolutely.

But it is not a choice between equal propositions.

Choice one: Wait for a scheduled time in order to receive a timebound UK focussed TV bulletin.
Choice two: At any time access a TV service which may be showing an internationally focussed news bulletin, or may be showing click / travel show filler.

So I think the complaint is that the choice to watch a UK focused rolling bulletin at any time has / will been removed.

The choice is going but like it’s being reported no one seems to consuming the bbc news channel ie the viewerships aren’t high enough, seemingly everyone is looking for the internet and the bbc news app.

Tbh the only bbc news channel I watch is bbc world news for a roundup of the news or more likely the bbc news app If they is a few minutes to spare during the day.

Sarah Mulkerrins who is one of the BBC Sport newsreaders on the NC/World News is going freelance.

This may have been reported elsewhere, but its an interest read about the morale behind the scenes of the merger. And how they are bleeding talent. Deadline.com is a reputable Hollywood and broadcasting industry publication in the US.

I don't blame them for jumping ship-It sounds like this merger is a flop/disaster waiting to happen-And what happens if the new channel does flop and they have nothing to fall back on.

A real shame to see Joanna Gosling going in particular, one of those who is always excellent with rolling news and managing the shift between more serious and lighter moments.
