The UK version (featuring the new BBC News block logo):

The international version:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bbc-news/id364147881

As far as I know, the international version doesn't have push alerts for domestic UK stories, such as your weekly reminder to tune in to "Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg".

Maybe someone here with a VPN can try install both versions of the app and tell us the differences in push alerts~

Ah, so because I have the UK App Store on my phone I’ve got the UK version of the app - the icon has three blocks. Didn’t realise there were two versions of the app.  Guess the fix for me is to turn off notifications.

Thanks everyone

Not that we were questioning this but both Reeta and Clive are definitely staying as well.

Are we still getting a new presentation and titles on the new channel as well as for the BBC One Bulletins?

I can see the BBC News at One moving perhaps to Studio B when they refurb Studio E, with the merged BBC News moving to Studio C whilst Studio E is refurbished, You could keep Studio A for the UK opt outs.

I could also see some studios being mothballed to cut costs for the BBC.

I know this might be coming a bit of a fantasy post but could Studio E become a Radio studio for Radio 4 News and 5 Live News in London? Move the Today show, PM, Nicky Campbell (who I think presents his show from London sometimes?) and even World at one. It would make a more interesting Radio Studio design. The Newsroom would be the back drop instead of those random placed monitors. Wouldn't take much to put a radio desk in the middles and some fixed cameras around the place. Bet they could even have a gallery at one end of the studio like Radio 4 and 5 Live studios have. Could even have a few portrait screens to. Would also free up some space upstairs for when Radio 2 and 6Music move in. Studio E has always felt cramped to me because of the lower ceilings but it could work well as a Radio studio. BBC News would also be better in the bigger studios below.

BBC has the largest newsroom in Europe and a studio that gives a spectacular view of it. Using that studio, for any other purpose than live TV news, would be pure madness on BBC's side.

The studio doesn't even need that much of a change. Just mix it up with the camera shots, add a monolith screen or two, change the desk and that's it.

Some deserved promotions. Jane Hill must hold a record for longest period as an 'understudy' - a quick search of TV Forum suggests she was presenting daytime summaries by late 2001 and full weekday network bulletins by early 2003 - two decades to finally 'officially' get on the network team!

I’m in Dubai and just had a notification about the Happy Valley final.

Most Sundays I get an alert to watch the Sunday morning programme which is of no use to me.

I can’t see any way in the app to specify which region I am but find it strange if the whole world just got that alert!
To be honest, your particular location is not the reason that that push notification is weird. The increasingly low bar the BBC has for breaking news alerts has become ridiculous and I know of many people who've just turned a once useful service off due to these kinds of notifications. I don't know why they do it, it only serves to irritate people and turn them away from using a BBC service (sometimes in favour of competitors (though many are equally poor on this front)). A breaking news alert should be for breaking news only - not for promotions, not for puff pieces and not for general news stories.
I’m sure in the early days of COVID these breaking news alerts only appeared rarely, and you knew it was something fairly big, they seemed to appear on average no more than 1 per day

Now they seem to appear about half a dozen times every single day, and sometimes it isn’t even News
“A minor cabinet minister is about to appear on Laura K’s programme, watch now”
“With strike action tomorrow, our reporter has all the latest”
“This week could be tough for the PM, says Chris Mason”
etc etc

Agreed, 100%. Anyway E just wouldn't work as a radio studio. I'd have thought there would be too big a risk of the acoustics from the newsroom being caught by any microphones. You can just about get away with it for TV.

Obviously there are some that aren't great - the Outside Source example above is a bit basic - but the other two are both quite nice and suit the programme's branding. Studio C and E are actually better than most studios for behind the presenter screens, with it not being too distant or at too awkward an angle for the presenter. But there are a few studios where it does look a bit like they are straining to get the presenter and screen in shot at the same time (N6 2003-06 being a particularly bad example).
The best solution is to have the over the shoulder graphics on the screen behind the presenter, like this:

Congratulations to Jane (and Reeta & Clive, even though I assumed they were already network presenters!).

Jane is also doing a rare Sunday NC/World shift this evening.
