If you take out red and blue there isn’t a lot of other options. I’ve never watched a politics programme and given any thought to the colours of the programmes in relation to political parties.

I didn't say it was an issue, I don't think anybody seriously believes that the colour palette indicates anything. I was just highlighting that there was a very clear period in the 2000s where particularly purple (but also teal and orange) were the go-to colours for political TV branding, especially on the BBC, and that seems to have gone away in recent years.

Perhaps if you're of that age, but many younglings on here won't know 'On the Record' from Adam. It was a Sunday lunchtime programme, not a Sunday morning programme. Very stiff.

Yes, you can see it in the image at the end of the trailer. There is a definite change to the circular nature of the catwalk.

Given that the logo says "Sunday" in much bigger writing than the "with Laura Kuenssberg" beneath, I suspect that the programme will simply become just "Sunday" on any occasions that a stand-in presenter is used (à la Outside Source when Ros Atkins is away).

So, essentially it won't really be much different to the current situation of having both "Sunday Morning" and "Sunday Morning Live" neighbouring each other the schedule.

Oh, how I miss the days of the more interesting/clever/imaginative programme name that was On The Record. The fact that it was replaced by the ultra-literal title "The Politics Show" was the start of an irritating trend of total blandness with naming. It'll probably be renamed as "A Programme" at some point in the future...

Will the news update at the start remain

It isn’t that often that the Sunday morning politics programme isn’t presented by the usual host. Even during the six months or more that Sophie presented it was rare that Sophie was off.

Or the weather forecast? My guess is that will be dropped.

And if it does, will the background in Salford be updated to look like studio B, or still persist with the ancient BBC News backdrop

Regarding the name, I bet it will be like "Tonight" and end up being referred to as "The Sunday Programme" as a lot of the ways to name the show in conversation are either long winded or non specific
