They don't seem to do random Friday hosts now as if Dermot and Alison host the week they don't get Fridays off now, but wouldn't be a bad idea to give Gyles and Carol a Friday episode over the summer.  A week of them might be a bit much.

Carol and Gyles are a bit too old skewing for the desired This Morning target audience.

I think if Ben Shephard wasn't committed to GMB and Tipping Point, he'd be the ideal replacement for Phil and a natural progression as well. He can handle both the more serious topics and the lighter stuff.

Even Uncle Peter had a little pop at the whole situation on Look North tonight!

RE: This Morning - JustJamie - 12-05-2023

Daily Mail reporting "crisis talks" over the whole situation - and ITV refuse to confirm if Phil and Holly will not appear NEXT WEEK.

If they don't appear on Monday, I wouldn't be surprised if Alison and Dermot are parachuted in.

RE: This Morning - Brekkie - 13-05-2023

We had this nonsense a few weeks ago where all the media convinced themselves Holly had shingles so that Phil could have the week off only for him to be on air all week - ITV are failing to confirm anything because there is nothing to confirm.

RE: This Morning - Kojak - 13-05-2023

Hmm. IS it nonsense? There may well be more than meets the eye here. I suspect some here may well be tucking in to some humble pie this time tomorrow.

When does Bake Off start filming. Could affect how much Allison can do in the coming months. Plus she has said before she would be reluctant to do four days a week because that would either require a lot of commuting or relocating from the West Midlands.

That Sun statement is odd...to say the least. Something is definitely going on.

Yes, tabloids never print lies.

None of this is from tabloids though.

RE: This Morning - AaronTV - 13-05-2023

The crisis talks reports do appear like a load of standard tabloid guff, but Holly not releasing her own statement following Phil’s and ITV allegedly refusing to confirm they would both be presenting on Monday is a little telling.

Now that it has become a thing, it’s also very difficult for them and ITV to stop it being a thing. Even the best of friends are going to find the recent front pages and coverage causes something of a strain, so their chemistry is going to seem awkward now because they’ll presumably want to try and show that there is no issue, even if there was never one in the first place.
