I just don't think he would ever have been used on the Queen's death coverage. It's just a completely different tone and strictly a news event.

Given what's been happening on social media, he'd have been wise to avoid any appearances anyway.

RE: HM Queen Elizabeth Dies & Funeral Coverage - ALV - 20-09-2022

As the sun rises this morning, presentation is gradually returning to normal on BBC NC, after a 10-day spectacular coverage - The regular countdown and trailers returned at the 6AM TOTH junction this morning... The presenters on Breakfast no longer wear sombre attire... On WN, the sombre countdown is still being aired as of 6AM.

A little OT but the NC accidentally put up the BSL overlay at the start of the Breakfast this morning, they quickly routed back the correct Salford feed seconds later...

I really liked the flipper on Breakfast in the past few days... (even though it just shows the website and have zero top stories). I wish the galleries in Salford had the capabilities in NBH of routing different graphics engines to different TX paths, so that the NC can have a flipper, while One can go flipper-less. It's just a bit weird that a morning show doesn't have a flipper showing the top stories of the day...

EDIT: The regular countdown and advertising returned to WN as of 7AM. I'm going to miss this breathtaking earworm remix of the countdown so much.

Not even for something equivalent to The One Show's specials?

I've put together this montage of the BBC channels for the announcement of the death on Thursday 8th September 2022.

Working on a commercial channel version too.

The commercial channel version (with CBeebies included which didn't break the news at all)

Which I guess is what you could say he and Holly did do last week. As all editions of This Morning that aired were totally Queen related.

The BBC logo Arabic and Persian used looks exactly like what would have been used in the UK before the black and white 'News Report' slide came in a few years ago.

RE: HM Queen Elizabeth Dies & Funeral Coverage - Newsroom - 20-09-2022

I can't believe I'm posting this article as it's not a source I usually read. In saying that, the Daily Mail have given a superb account of how the US networks covered the day.

And here is a brilliant review of the BBC with some ITV and barely any Sky.
