Wasn’t she hired originally to cover Kirsty Young on the Lunchtime News? She was definitely presenting at ITN at the very end of 2000, as there is a video of her presenting on one of the days between Xmas and New Year:

Obviously she very quickly moved to the Evening News as that’s where Kirsty’s job moved. Kirsty then came back around June/July (?) that year, but left quite quickly (October I think) to go back to C5. Mary then returned to the EN, sharing with Katie Derham originally before becoming permanent co-host.

The ITV newsroom has been being redeveloped for a while now. I'd imagine they've built some sort of new studio within it.

I suspect it'll be a revamped version of their "digital" studio which looks pretty decent for what it's used for. Or a corner of the newsroom.

Yes ITV News are back in their newsroom. A new newsroom studio has been built next to the atrium. It should also be visible from the street.

I thought the entrance to GIR had been completely redeveloped so that you couldn't see across into the atrium? Isn't it a social space, cafe, etc?

I’ll check next time I’m there but I think you’re able to see it through the glass doors into the main building from reception.
