Yes, it seems they did, and the VO was just as if it was a standard bulletin rather than News at Ten.

I think so. Not sure Julie has done a regular Evening News since then either, whilst Nina doesn't appear outside the Lunchtime News as often as she once did.

It's kind of nice having two distinct teams for the main bulletins rather than the free for all you have at the BBC.

Reading between the lines, I got the impression there was a desire from above for NaT to change focus / have more personality (as it did) and this potentially led to offence from Mary and Mark that they weren’t capable of doing this. Could be wrong though.

Actually it was just a decision to have presenters dedicated to programmes as much as possible.

Nina is the only main presenter to occasionally cover on another show.

Charlene also works across lunchtime news & evening.

I'm guessing there shouldn't have even been a promo tonight since it's a bank holiday and not a "proper" edition of News at Ten. Maybe a mix-up with the ITV1 running order?

When they first unveiled that promo style I thought it wouldn't last the week but it's been going well over a year now (think it launched during I'm a Celeb, but not sure if 2021 or 2022). I still think they're less enticing than the presenter telling you what is coming up themselves, but they must think they work.

How is News at Ten rating now - have they benefitted at all from Huw being removed from the Ten o'clock News?

Not really. The most recent figures I've seen for regular editions in the week following the end of I'm a Celebrity and just before Christmas puts ITV News at Ten in the low 1m bracket and BBC News at Ten in the mid to high 2m bracket.
