More news about the acquisition: The Hollywood Reporter got access to Nexstar's Q3/2022 financial statements, in which THR mentioned this tidbit:

Quote:And sooner rather than later, the company is likely to acquire the 25 percent of The CW that WBD and Paramount are holding on to. Per its filing, Nexstar has a call option in August 2024 to acquire the remaining stake, and the sellers have an option in June 2026 to force Nexstar to acquire the remaining equity.

This means, more sooner than later, Nexstar will finally have full control of The CW. The full view:

Variety is reporting The CW has picked up an unscripted limited series co-produced by Vice and Penske Entertainment (owners of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the IndyCar series) retelling the preparations before the Indianapolis 500. This is the first major acquisition under the new strategy led by Nexstar.

RE: The CW taken over by Nexstar - Medianext.MX - 12-01-2023

Nexstar is making its first big moves programming-wise for The CW: Greg Berlanti's All American has been renewed for a sixth season, whilst summer mainstay Whose Line Is It Anyway? will end this year after being renewed for its 11th and final season on the network.

And Sports Business Journal analyst John Ourand is hearing Nexstar is nearing a deal with LIV Golf, whilst the Cincinnati Sports Commission has announced plans for a new college football bowl game, the Cincinnati Chili Bowl, and has sought a deal with Nexstar to broadcast it there if it happens:

An interesting update: Promos for LIV Golf have launched, but that is to be broadcast on WGN (a Nexstar independent), instead of WCIU (The CW affiliate owned by Weigel) in Chicago.
