Interestingly, two versions of the station's website exist now: One under the current CW Philly branding...
https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/cwphilly/
... And the other, under construction, with the new brand:

Update: WPCW/WPKD will be KDKA+, as seen in the high school football schedules in Pittsburgh Today Live:

And they are keeping their news at ten , because of course. That was the one of the more successful CBS station primetime newscasts, that's why they never did the Now show thing in Pittsburgh, so they aren't messing with that. And their primetime line up will have 48 hours and High School Football on Fridays. Here's the story from the paper too https://triblive.com/aande/movies-tv/tv-talk-channel-19-to-re-brand-as-kdka-change-call-letters/

I've mentioned this before, I still think it will be hard to do in Atlanta and Seattle. 22 The Point! was funny enough the only one that still aired My Network TV at 8-10pm. The one Sacramento is happy to move their syndicated programming for the CW. It Atlanta, it would be hard WATL airs local news from 8-11pm (also think local ad including 2024 presidential election ad money) and Seattle unless FOX wants to have Joe TV not have the 9pm newscast anymore, I think that'd be hard one too. Funny Nexstar used to own that station. No impossible, but might be a hard sell to those stations.

So as an update to my earlier post, the stations that are going to be the new CW affiliates are going to be
KQCA (Sacramento)
WTTA (St.Petersburg-Tampa)
WPHL-TV (Philadelphia)
KRON-TV (San Francisco)
WPNT (Pittsburgh)
The ones that are still missing are Detroit, Atlanta and Seattle

RE: The CW taken over by Nexstar - sky303 - 25-08-2023

For Detroit, WADL has a promo on their front page https://www.mywadl.com/  that they will be airing CW programming on MY38 (yes) starting September 1st.

What about WPCH-TV 17 in Atlanta and KVOS-TV 12 (or even KONG 16) in Seattle? Do you think that there is any possibility that The CW might end up on these stations? Even on a sub channel?

Nexstar is reportedly finalizing a deal with Tegna to switch WATL (MNTV) and KONG (independent) to CW affiliations; both stations have prime news blocks (produced by sisters WXIA and KING) which might be displaced by network programming. It is reportedly also taking a look at Gray-owned Peachtree TV (WPCH), but that could cause a massive number of simsub blackouts in Canada, as WPCH is widely distributed in that country, and many of The CW's new imports are CTV/Crave, CBC and Global original series. Even many of WPCH's local programming however is blacked out in that country, with paid programming and off-network repeats filling these slots.

Surprised that they didn't consider KVOS-TV for Seattle, but probably Nexstar figured it out that Tegna could make a better deal out of it!

KVOS-TV is owned by Weigel for their Heroes and Icons network, the other station they own is KFFV is METV. I don't think Weigel would give that up.

I would be surprised Tegna would be willing to give up the news revenue in at least Atlanta, since Georgia has somewhat become more swing state like or is at least now thought to be and that election money for more newscasts would be their ticket. In theory, I could see KONG deciding to give up on 9pm news , and keep the 10pm for the CW.

More developments in the affiliation switcheroo: TVNewsTalk users are reporting KAUT is becoming a CW O&O from next Friday, leading Sinclair-owned KOCB to switch to indie status going forward; it the case of KAUT, their 9pm newscast (produced by sister KFOR) stays, but (for now) no expansion to weekends is expected.

KAUT is, indeed, switching to CW, using the same promo template as WADL's and other Nexstar O&Os (KRON as for example):

Wait why is KAUT switching to The CW, I don't understand the reasoning behind this
