WUPA in Atlanta will be Atlanta69:

And WKBD will be Detroit50, despite the existence of CBS Detroit:

The station is starting a morning newscast at 7am from September 4, the timeslot for CBS Mornings over on CBS Detroit:

Meanwhile, like KBCW/KPYX, other indies are adding new newscasts in primetime: KTXA at 6.30 and KMAX at 8 under the name of Primetime Sacramento.

That feels more and more that WPSG will become or go fully back to Philly 57. Also, looking at their line up, with the Now thing gone, they aren't back to 10pm News fully local it seems, but also seemingly running random specials at 8pm, maybe they are waiting to launch an 8pm newscast or something.

That morning newscast already exists. It is an extension of their existing morning newscast which is streaming-exclusive. Although CBS News Detroit prioritizes the streaming element of the offering, many of the hours air simultaneously on 62.

As for KTXA, they are back with primetime news: they had a two hour block of news between 2006 and 2011, based on KCAL's model of separating each hour into distinct broadcasts, one hour focusing on local news and another focusing on statewide, national and international news. The broadcast was wound up in 2011 due to budget cuts and low ratings: reduced to a half-hour that September, and then axed one month later.

There are rumblings the Now experiment is being wound up. It was reported by Scott Jones/FTVLive in his paywalled Patreon blog.

A certain irony that around the world many broadcasters look to save money by cutting local or national newscast whilst in the US increasing them is a proven way to try and make a station more profitable.

According to local papers, Sinclair's WPNT will be the new CW affiliate for Pittsburgh, although it is still yet to be announced, either by them or by sister Fox station WPGH 53.

Nexstar really need a Pittsburgh station for the ACC part at least.

Anyway, I looked at TV Passport they have WPSG having a CBS NEWS Philadelphia 8pm starting September 5 (the day after Labor Day)

Probably the biggest difference is how news is seen as a public service in other countries and maybe even required as part of broadcasting versus the US where stations can profit from it, especially during election seasons.

And as you expected, WPSG is using the Philly57 monikor, with the same bright green as their sister KYW:

Interestingly, two versions of the station's website exist now: One under the current CW Philly branding...

... And the other, under construction, with the new brand:

Update: WPCW/WPKD will be KDKA+, as seen in the high school football schedules in Pittsburgh Today Live:

Why am I getting the feeling that even in the remaining markets The CW will end up on MyNetworkTV affiliates?

RE: The CW taken over by Nexstar - Brekkie - 24-08-2023

Can't believe MyNetworkTV is still going. Didn't they launch around the same time (when WB and UPN merging left stations not becoming the CW looking for a network) with a stripped nightly telenovela strategy which failed spectacularly?

True story. It was a Fox attempt to cash on the WB-UPN merger. Fox had UPN affiliates in many major markets (including NY, LA and Chicago), however, Tribune signed a deal with the CW to affiliate their WB stations with the new network. Fox surprised by quickly forming MNTV just one month after the CW's announcement, as a "contingency plan" (according to Roger Ailes); the telenovela schedule, the brainchild of then-20th Television programming chief Paul Buccieri, was set to be initially distributed in syndication, but these were eventually reformatted and redirected to the new "network". It launched two weeks before the CW's formal launch.

It has operated mostly as a "programming service", given it never aired programming outside prime time. After two seasons airing lower profile reality shows, movies and sports rights (plus WWE SmackDown between 2008-2010), MNTV switched to the Ion model of cheap off-network syndication series.
