Interesting little curiosity - the top, tail and in-betweens for what appears to be a special pop-themed Saturday morning compilation of Russell Harty's LWT chat show.

From what Russell's closing link suggests, this was during the three-day week and the relatively brief period of TV having to close down by 10.30pm.

Asides that, marvel at the river ident-inspired graphics - and rest assured, there's no sign of a certain wrong'un despite being mentioned (thank heavens).

From the same uploader, two late closedowns from HTV (in the run up to the launch of 24-hour TV / Night Club) which appear to be shared between Wales and the West.

In both cases, we hear the Wales announcer staying on duty - and staying out-of-vision. No 'nos da', either.

9.30 one Wednesday evening in 1979, and BBC1's offering is.... a demonstration of Quantel's latest kit, including a detailed explaination of non-sync cuts and frame stores.

The 'Gold standard' of kit (and 24hr international backup), we had lots of it.

The very early products had the individual component identification marks removed to try and prevent copying of designs etc.

A couple of those occasional 'closed circuit' broadcasts for certain staff at US network affiliates, in this case, NBC.

This one concerns the end of landline-based transmission feeds - not quite sure what High Intensity Television Services is meant to be, but sounds like an aborted attempt to take on MTV, going by the rather odd phone-in that follows.

The uploader's also uploaded a couple of 'status reports' on the NBC Skypath system designed to provide satellite feeds.

This includes their own live phone-in and comes to you from the set of Late Night with David Letterman.

I hadn't realised that these complaint summaries were broadcast in cases where the complaint was rejected, I thought it was part of the "punishment" for breaking the rules that they had to broadcast the findings.

Was it the broadcaster's choice in that situation, and could they still do it now? For example after a high profile pile-on resulting in a load of complaints to OFCOM which ultimately get rejected?

The BCC only handled personal complaints against TV and radio programmes. For example if a contributor was unfairly treated or a person was misrepresented.

It doesn't exist any more. Originally there was the BCC and the Broadcasting Standards Commission which handled taste and decency complaints. The BCC merged into the BSC and then the BSC was incorporated into Ofcom

I've not seen an Ofcom in vision ruling for years
the last was probably GMTVs phone scandal, so I imagine they'd still happen with something that serious, but no not if the complaint is not upheld
