I consider him to have failed in that case….because I thought the episode WAS spectacular! I may be biased in having read The Star Beast comic strip when it first came out (yes I’m THAT old) and I’ve always loved those early Doctor Who Weekly strips. It was wonderful to see it adapted for the screen. A slightly different story of course but the basics are all there. So yes….spectacular…

Well RTD will be delighted. His appearance on The One Show before the first episode he played down that it would be spectacular, and said episodes two and three was when it gets really mad and crazy

Yeah I saw that interview.

I have to say RTD is a past master at suggesting something's no big deal and then WHAM it really is.
Yet he manages to do it in such a way that he still makes you want to watch. He's cunning and you have to listen VERY carefully to what he says.
I rate him as a television genius, in case anyone hasn't noticed. While I have always been a Doctor Who fan, RTD is one of a very small number of people for whom I will watch a show they are involved in just because they are involved in it, regardless of the subject matter. I haven't yet been disappointed with any show from any on my (pretty short) list.

More details about the Christmas Special have been published, including the confirmation of Davina McCall guest starring.

Also, confirmation that it will air on Christmas Day for the first time since 2017.

I mean, Disney+ had confirmed the title and that it would be out on Christmas Day a good few weeks ago, but nice for the BBC to finally catch up

Also in the article is the casting of recently returned EastEnders actress Angela Wynter as Ruby Sunday's grandmother, and confirmation that Michelle Greenidge's character, Carla, is Ruby's mum

It was a bad decision by the BBC to move it from Saturday nights to Sundays and drop the Christmas specials.

They tried to placate fans by having a New Year's Day special, sometimes referred to as a festive special, but it was no way festive. Just the usual bog standard episode, extended to an hour.

Well it was a brilliant scene that got a lot of people talking. Why not?

RE: Doctor Who - TheGregmeister - 02-12-2023

I might try a Tuna Madras ... followed by fish fingers and custard for afters!

Bernard. Cribbins.

That final scene got me so badly.
