It has just debuted in the 5pm newscast. It is one of Sinclair's standardized in-house designs.

The new set is on the air, an adaptation of Atlanta News First's set; however, the new graphics launch has been delayed. Still, an impressive upgrade for WCSC and hoping this is the way forward for Gray's smaller-market stations from now. [

One of "newer" things many station groups are implementing at the smaller markets are the ceiling suspended camera groups using cheaper PTZ's and monitors. These are extremely cost effective alternative to the pricey robotic cameras and basically eliminates the needs for camera operators and maintenance. You get a bit of movement, but basically the viewers are left with the many locked down shots. So visually its not very interesting. But the alternative is the greater use of video walls which used to be out of reach of smaller markets.

The CBS Evening News received a tweaked headline sequence last night.

It looks like Spectrum News is preparing to rebrand soon. Yesterday, Spectrum's TV guide on digital platforms received new logos, which are a complete departure on the existing logos. Most notably, the Spectrum News word mark has swapped its existing font (a holdover from a 2013 rebrand from Troika Design Group -now Troika/Mission- which put the Time Warner Cable regional news channels in line with its Southern California sports networks, alongside renaming most of the channels to Time Warner Cable News) in favor of the current Spectrum corporate font, and the standalone networks (NY1, Bay News 9 and News 13) have lost its unique logos in favor of the same branding styling.

Such a move might cause tantrums with Bay News 9 viewers, however, as the channel has largely stuck to its own presentation and content style, even if Spectrum has forced them to use their standardized graphics package (they still use their 1997 logo from John Christopher Burns and WCPM/Non-Stop Music's Primetime News package, and have their weather updates still on the 9s, unlike the rest of the Spectrum News feeds, which offer weather on the 1s). Spectrum not tinkering much with Bay News 9 has helped a lot, as BN9 is often the most-watched newscast in the Tampa Bay region, even beating WTVT, in part thanks to the high penetration of cable TV in the area.

The amended open is awful. Soundbites are everywhere, especially the GFX on the first one makes me think of the flippy subtitles you'd see on TikTok.

The animation in between looks unsynced with the music and footage - looks like some hiccups prevented them from appearing in a snap.

Here's a high quality version of the new symbol, courtesy of TVNewsTalk:

Looks a bit in line with NY1.

RE: American News Presentation - DTV - 15-02-2023

Much too busy as a sequence, but am really reminded of one my real pet hates of news presentation - a bed should not 'shout' over the presenter. It is there to add a bit of aural depth, maybe to punctuate or add a sense of urgency. It should be the musical equivalent of a background extra - it should round things out, but becomes distracting if it is particularly noticeable. Often, particularly in American news broadcasts, the bed is just too active and too loud and ends up being overbearing.

RE: American News Presentation - Kojak - 15-02-2023

Everything about that CBS intro sequence is awful. The constant cuts between footage, the TikTok style subtitles, there being a SOT on every headline… just ghastly. I’ll never complain about BBC headlines again!

And as for Norah O’Donnell’s presenting style… SO flowery. “Good evening and thank you for joining us as we begin a new week together.” Nah. None of that. Just ‘good evening’ will suffice, thanks.

RE: American News Presentation - Medianext.MX - 15-02-2023

Indeed, it looks awful and too OTT. Even ABC's teases look more polished than CBS' ones.

Staying with the CBS fold, the next station which will adopt the new O&O graphics is (reportedly) KYW. Insiders at a Reddit local TV subforum are being told that the launch will happen as soon as next Monday. The biggest draw to the rebrand will be the retirement of the Eyewitness News brand, which, although a big part of Philly TV history, its reputation was tainted thanks to the scandals surrounding Peter Dunn and Bob Friend's tenure as CBS' O&O leaders. The CBS News Philadelphia brand will be used in its place, signaling the beginning of a new chapter for them.

In the meantime, their still-new set has switched to the new brand in their main desk.

That CBS intro is almost seizure inducing. It's no wonder they've been 3rd place for 19 years, they can't just leave things be and near constantly change and tweak things.

The closest they got to a decent presentation style was when Scott Pelley was there, and they changed the graphics (around 2014/5). Since then it's just change for change's sake.

That is horrific. It's so fast it surely could genuinely be triggering for some people.

I am no fan of the 90 seconds headline sequences we currently get on all the main bulletins, but I would take them any day of the week over that fast cuts, over-the-top headline sequence.

Not sure that CBS title sequence would pass Harding!
