Yesterday, Spectrum's TV guide on digital platforms received new logos, which are a complete departure on the existing logos. Most notably, the Spectrum News word mark has swapped its existing font in favor of the current Spectrum corporate font, and the standalone networks (NY1, Bay News 9 and News 13) have lost its unique logos in favor of the same branding styling.
Here's a high quality version of the new symbol, courtesy of TVNewsTalk:

Looks a bit in line with NY1.

The new logos went on-air today. They didn't debut with a new look, but rather they just tweaked the Loyalkaspar 2017 package. However, the weather opens used by Bay News 9 and Spectrum News 13 were completely changed with a totally new design, which certainly leads to a clue for a possible new look.

The first big test for CBS News Detroit was breaking news of the MSU shooting; however, it reacted very late in covering the event, even didn't broke in either network programming or its streaming network. By 10:30pm, Kris Laudien (standing in for a then unwell Jeff Skversky, he's the anchor of the new morning newscast I will explain later on) and Shaina Humphries broke on a rebroadcast 6pm newscast for an update, but still no rolling coverage. It was until 11pm where WWJ went all-in with coverage, with Lansing bureau reporter Luke Lester and weekend news anchor and reporter Terrell Bailey in the scene; however, it was ridden with massive technical problems and reacting late to developments, even way after WDIV, WXYZ and WJBK had presented those tidbits. Alternative publication Metro Times made a scathing review of this situation:

https://www.metrotimes.com/news/msu-shooting-shows-cbs-news-detroit-not-yet-ready-for-prime-time-32420449

Speaking of Kris Laudien and WWJ, the new morning newscast, originally planned for March 6, had to be soft-launched on mid-February on the streaming network as severe winter weather rocked the city; a rotating mix of anchors and reporters have temporarily anchored the broadcast during these first weeks, as CBS Detroit management hired Laudien from KARE/Minneapolis; on February 23, WWJ announced the launch date for the new show and the hiring of WDIV's Sandra Ali; however, the MSU shooting led to the new morning show being launched on the OTA channel just two days earlier; however, Laudien and Ali will take over as anchors on the originally planned date of March 6.

And here's how it looks on the streaming network, a modified version of their previous ticker. This is how CBS News Los Angeles/KCAL News had to do when it launched. Still, the modified CBSN Local ticker and the weather ticker used by KCNC OTA, although misaligned, look way better than the standard flipper used by most O&Os.

It looks like the long-delayed new ABC O&O graphics are about to get on the air. WLS released a promo touting its weather anchors which feature additional elements of the new pack, already deployed on the weather graphics:

Judging by their Youtube page, its sister stations are also rebranded with the new image as well:

An update to this and the state of the new Gray standardized graphics from Matt Quinn... In the case of KFYR, it has been designed to suit eventually the new package. The launch of the new designs is set to happen later this month or by April, according to TVNewsTalk insiders.

Also, Matt Quinn published a sizzle reel on LinkedIn of some works done by Gray Design Group, which is Gray's internal creative design and promotion team, based out of WANF in Atlanta (superseding the prior teams from WNDU and KOLN/KGIN). There, we are finally being given a sneak peek of the new standardized graphics. Like the Meredith standardized package (also designed by Quinn), stations would be able to customize the color palette used for its rendition, but eventually sticking to a design similar to the current Atlanta News First graphics. Stations from certain affiliates can also be able to commission customized variants, including CBS affiliates (like this example from a certain CBS 3, where the design take cues from the network's current brand system) and even Telemundo stations (with customized opens taking cues from Look K, the former Telemundo Local Media package from NBC Arthouse, like an example showcasing KXNV Reno, sister to KOLO). Additionally, lifestyle shows from Gray's legacy stations, as well as Raycom and Quincy holdovers, would switch to the Meredith lifestyle package (like this example showcasing Midwest Access, from former Quincy station KTTC). Stations will be able to retain their existing music packages.

RE: American News Presentation - W. Knight - 06-03-2023

Very nice package - remaining some kind of brightness and depth from the CGI graphics while being in a flatter theme.

Quote:“Next steps for us, obviously, Elizabeth Vargas is going to the network in April,” Sook said during a Thursday call with investors breaking down Nexstar’s fourth-quarter 2022 earnings results. “And by the end of April we will have a program schedule that will be news 24/5. So we will be a 24-hour news network Monday-Friday by the end of April and that will include the daytime expansion, the addition of ‘The Hill,’ the addition of the ‘Elizabeth Vargas Reports’ show at 6 o’clock Eastern, Monday-Friday. And at that point, obviously, we’re getting higher cost per thousands in news programming than we did in off-network programming.”

Back to Gray stations, their national news streaming network, Local News Live, seems to be the latest recipient of the WANF package, and also a rebrand and a new set:

RE: American News Presentation - 8baan - 08-03-2023

From Monday the 7th of March NBC Today has reverted back to the 2013 opening theme, which is more orchestral in nature. At first I thought it was maybe a one-off grand opening to mark the return of Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, yet the 3rd hour also used the theme. Both the main show and the 3rd hour continued to use it on Tuesday.

CNBC's Last Call premiered.  Funny how the show it replaced also launched on a Wednesday. It's also using the studio that was once used for "The News with Shepard Smith"

They used the studio well presentation wise too, instead of  a four box set on screen they had this the whole time in the segment

In speaking of graphics NewsNation modified theirs on Tuesday evening.

Here's the before from Tuesday afternoon
[Image: FqqAko2X0AAF_I_.jpg]

Then when they took their now 4 hour break, NewsNation  Live with Marni Hughes expanded on Monday to 3 hours, and came back for Rush Hour
They took the box from the right moved it to the left and now use it as the logo, it doesn't move or change like the it did when it was a program box.  They took the program name and stuck where the logo used to be and then moved the clock over and added a Newsnationnow dot com box, but wait there's more
[Image: FqqABojXgAA0KiR.jpg]

Because after Dan Abrams Live when Banfield come on they dropped the NewsNation Now dot com thing , so that evening
[Image: Screenshot-357.png]

They left it that way until Rush Hour , Wednesday , where they moved the clock back to where it was before the graphics changed.

These changes were their worst changes to these graphics. Like original NewsNation, the original version of these graphics were nice and well done.
