RE: American News Presentation - W. Knight - 15-03-2023

Not too fond of the WBTV logo - looks more like a local property agent. Does that mean the CBS3 open in the sizzle reel is not for them?

Staying with CBS, WFOR is now CBS News Miami. On streaming, they used the full score for the rebranded open, according to TVNewsTalk:

Meanwhile, the 5pm newscast has this:

And there's also this. What's with the O&Os and their habit of fiddling around with font sizes?

The new ANF graphics seems to be popping up in their sports promo:

They're still using their existing graphics (from the prior hub) but they did indeed use the new ANF graphics for the open of the live special:

Big behind-the-scenes news at the Sinclair local stations: the broadcaster is reorganising many of its local newsrooms in smaller markets. The first stations affected are WGXA in Macon (ABC/Fox), WACH in Columbia (Fox) and their duopoly in Flint (WEYI/WSMH). This will lead to some of the newscasts in non-key slots being replaced by simulcasts of The National Desk. In the case of WEYI, the morning news, 5pm and weekend evening broadcasts are being reportedly culled.

Sinclair tried this quasi-hybrid approach when they launched NEWSCENTRAL across the country at their small affiliates. Large portions of programme was presented from the DC I think. Weather and Sports was centralized and there was an presenter in each market. But everything else was the same. Music, graphics, etc. Im not sure if everything was pre-recorded or live. But it was a weird product and it was a disaster. So eventually they got rid of it. But clearly their local stations arent doing well. But Sinclair and its Conservative mandated stories got really bad press.

I'm not sure the new WPIX lower thirds are an improvement - but, other than that, this is a massive step up for them. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Good set, good graphics, horrid L3s, very generic music (other than the cut previewed in the traffic promo). At least, Rey Rodriguez managed to step up a bit in the quality of their designs. The L3s are really badly designed (they look like a mishmash of unconnected elements), and are too big. The set is easily (IMHO) the second best of NYC's local channels, after WCBS; FX did manage to do a great job of cramming everything into their very small space, and also reflecting a subway-style feel to all of the designs.

RE: American News Presentation - mouseboy33 - 19-03-2023

Yeah the new theme is horrible. The previous was brilliant. With the drum beat and driving beat sounds very urban and very New York plus with a massive Latin population in Metro NY area the sound appeals to a big demographic. shame they dropped it for such a non description nothing generic theme.

I remember WFOR 4 Miami went full Latin Beat it was definetely a bop (listen from 4:00)

The weather ticker looks disproportionally larger than the headlines in the morning news:
