As it is seen, they might get the new graphics, but recolored (like KDKA). We will see what it happens.

It is real: KYW is getting the KDKA treatment for the new O&O graphics, which debut today. A TVNewsTalk.net insider, Brandon Giesing, who contributes to the forum, gave a preview of their adaptation from a rehearsal of a 11pm newscast. No new weather graphics for now. All pictures courtesy of the user.

I have corrected the reference after receiving a tip from another TVNT user. Back on track: the new look CBS Philadelphia has a new slogan and brand campaign: Finding Heart in Every Beat. The new campaign and decision to go Eagles branding-wise was designed by Atlanta-based Matchstic, the agency which rebrand two Tegna stations in 2021.

So they've dropped the Helvetica 3 for a squarer 3, put the new numeral besides the eye, then stuff it in a square box? Not a fan of that, but otherwise looks better than KDKA V1.

NewscastStudio has the story on keeping the 3:
Quote:“We also recognized we couldn’t just completely get rid of the three,” said [Kelly] Frank, while noting that channel numbers mean something different in the world of streaming. “We knew that there was recognition and affinity and value in that three… We needed to maintain that tip of the hat, that legacy, that homage to the iconic three. So we kept it and made sure that it was married to the CBS brand.”

The thumbnail on the Youtube channel also refreshed for the new look: A rounded green rectangle, stacked 3 and CBS News Philadelphia wordmark in a dark blue bubble.

In another news: Aside from the BBC, NPR was also classified as "government-funded media" on Twitter, leading to them exiting the platform in protest. In their own words:

Quote:By going silent on Twitter, NPR's chief executive says the network is protecting its credibility and its ability to produce journalism without "a shadow of negativity."

"The downside, whatever the downside, doesn't change that fact," NPR CEO John Lansing said in an interview. "I would never have our content go anywhere that would risk our credibility."

In a BBC interview posted online Wednesday, Musk suggested he may further change the label to "publicly funded." His words did not sway NPR's decision makers. Even if Twitter were to drop the designation altogether, Lansing says the network will not immediately return to the platform.

"At this point I have lost my faith in the decision-making at Twitter," he says. "I would need some time to understand whether Twitter can be trusted again."

NPR is instituting a "two-week grace period" so the staff who run the Twitter accounts can revise their social-media strategies. Lansing says individual NPR journalists and staffers can decide for themselves whether to continue using Twitter.

That's the same branding company that did WTSP's look which is also green , the old WTSP director of content also is at KYW-TV so...

also during non news programming, still using the old bug,

Had to sign up here just to respond to this after seeing a screenshot of this post shared on TVNewsTalk before it got edited to say "insider" instead of "KYW producer" 😂Definitely not either, I was just taking screenshots of a video on their public Vimeo page, I definitely don't work for KYW (don't even have a job and I live in Missouri, not even close to Philly) and I have no insider knowledge at all as I'm not even in the industry or know anyone who is.

An update: PBS is now seemingly joining their fellow radio broadcaster as well:
Quote:Twitter added a "government-funded" label to PBS' main Twitter account last weekend, a spokesperson confirmed.
[list]
[*]“We did stop tweeting at that point as soon as we discovered it," a PBS spokesperson confirmed.
[*]"We have no plans to resume tweeting."
[*]The label was placed only on PBS' main Twitter handle, not any of the accounts affiliated with PBS, like its local stations or individual shows.

Back to CBS, WCCO is probably taking the WBZ/KCAL route in putting 'WCCO NEWS' in the letterbox, as seen in the partial 5pm (possibly) rehearsal open on the Creative team's Vimeo account, captured below (original video courtesy of WCCO Creative/CBS News and Stations):

Not too sure if the red is the main colour or for breaking news only though.

RE: American News Presentation - Charles - 13-04-2023

I don't see any breaking news in that open, and WCCO's brand color was red before they went with the standardized CBS look in 2011. Maybe they're going back to that.

RE: American News Presentation - sky303 - 13-04-2023

I figured WCCO would stay WCCO News , they like WBZ had a CBS4 logo but that was dead weight that existed, before the 2010 standardization they and WBZ didn't even use a CBS 4 logo.
Their twitter account has changed to the black box with WCCO in it , it had the old CBS 4 WCCO logo yesterday
https://twitter.com/WCCO

Would be interesting if they do all red and white look,  that's not usually done, minus KRON-TV. They've been using the parts of the new graphics when they launched their 4pm newscast, and that's blue and white so.. hmm.

My other guess for the other stations
WJZ will probably use WJZ News as their name still
WBBM will probably still use a  CBS 2 box, but go by CBS News Chicago
KOVR will probably use a CBS 13 box,  random guess of still going by CBS 13 News because why not? Will be interesting to see what they do with Good Day Sacramento's look since it's not in the standard design, hopefully that will be allowed to keep it's quirks or make new quirks for it , it had the same look for almost a decade or something so...
https://youtu.be/Hr7ra7Oh4Vw?t=18

Edit: WCCO News has the new look at 4pm, the graphics were already being used for this newscast, so it's the new bug and logo box thing
[Image: Screenshot-490.png]

Also, also, I like how KYW also added green to the weather graphics makes a nice mix there  and the blue works with it. Also interesting to see the graphics can also go without a ticker.

RE: American News Presentation - W. Knight - 13-04-2023

The 4 has flipped to the new package, in standard shades of blue:

5pm News followed the WBZ route: WCCO NEWS Streaming on CBS News Minnesota.
[Image: WCCO%205A.png][Image: WCCO%205B.png][Image: WCCO%205C.png][Image: WCCO%205D.png][Image: WCCO%205E.png]
The station bug is also seen on streaming now.

WJZ has updated their website symbol: A boxed "WJZ" next to CBS News Baltimore, with a new(?) slogan "On Your Corner. In Your Corner".

[Update] Sky303 beat me to it Big Grin

RE: American News Presentation - sky303 - 13-04-2023

The first newscast with the standard intro , putting the main brand front and center  whilst the CBS News Minnesota name is for the streaming thing , using the WBZ template.

KYW finally updated their bug for non news programming today at 7pm ET

Turns out it's for breaking news, as seen in this compilation (that also included their morning news and updated mid-morning opens):
https://youtu.be/4qW9cVbvgyQ

Staying in Minnesota, KAAL in the Southeast area (ABC/Hubbard) debuted some new graphics last Friday:
https://youtu.be/IWNj1UmGgWA
Morning and 6.30 news also had the same look - just with "Good Morning" or "6:30PM" replacing the Montserrat "Daytime" at the beginning.

A really good upgrade than their predecessor IMO, without the cheesy OTT swipes you'd associated US local news with.
