After much speculation, WLS-TV Chicago debuted a new graphics package and possibly new music arrangement. This marked the first station adopting the new ABC O&O graphics in full; teased after the amended main symbol, some stations took the weather graphics, but not the full one.

Here is playlist that shows the opens of the new ABC News aiffliate graphics. Appearing first on WLS Chicago.
The theme is the mix of the signature Gari's Eyewitness News and NS2000 tacked on the end. SInce WLS uses Virzt graphics system the open is dynamic featuring the current time and weather on the ticker. Nice little feature.

Interesting to see them have "live" time and temperature and a quick weather ticker in the intro.  Also I think whenever WPVI gets them, they'll still their normal open and integrate  the part where it says the name of the channel/newscast into it. 

Do think the lower thirds are upgrade for WLS, and would look good on WPVI, WABC(whose current look is oh my) , KTRK, WTVD,   I think would be a downgrade for the ABC West Coast stations that have some of what I think are the best.

The entire WLS / ABC News affiliate package is quite good. It very dynamic and quite a large set of graphics. I really like the implementation. Now i can see why it took forever! Now its going to start to be rolled out to all the ABC affiliates. Newscaststudio suspects it willbe WVTD in Raleigh NC next.

Watching CBS Saturday Morning, for some reason the national weather forecast came from The Weather Channel using one of their meteorologists from a virtual set than an in-house forecaster.

I'm guessing the soon be former CW stations will be getting the box logos soon.   I do like how they can customize the graphics. For Good Day, they swapped out the CBS eye in the graphics for the Good Day G , carrying over from the old lower thirds.
