WPVI’s helicopter crashed in a wooded area of NJ last night at 8PM. It was embargoed until 4AM. Just an hour ago they confirmed that both their pilot and photographer were deceased.

I believe this is the first mention of the crash on WPVI this morning.

I personally still prefer the warmth, 'family' feel and faster pace of the Today show, but I'd take CBS Mornings over GMA any day.

On of the other changes of CBS Mornings was to try to replicate some of that warmth to an extent, without sacrificing the slightly more thoughtful tone you mention - too warm, of course, and the programme ends up with no serious news substance; too serious and there is no warmth.

CBS This Morning was arguably too serious in a market when cable news outlets like CNN This Morning & Morning Joe already cover the more serious end more successfully, so going for a middle ground with CBS Mornings is probably a smart move.

Totally agree. I really dont like GMA at all. Never warmed to it. NBC Today was alway my favourite. Back it in the it was even better. But GMA is too much for me.

Absolutely horrific news. WPVI is the leading station the Delaware Valley (Philly). Must be devastating for the newsroom. Cant imagine when they arrive for work this morning.

WNDU South Bend has switched to GrayOne - kinda cluncky with their existing News Now branding.

Meanwhile, another case of network branding removed: NBC Nebraska is no more across KNOP and KSNB, as they updated to another old graphics template. This is the KNOP version:

And KWQC's "Hello Quad Cities" sting seems to be replaced by generic Gray animation, plus a change in their symbol:

They’re redoing the building in stages. I’d post pics but many were from private instagram pages. There’s this long beautiful staircase with a picture of their longtime anchor Jim Vance at the end, all the meeting rooms are named after parks, they replaced Keurigs with Nespresso and installed a chilled water (still and sparkling) dispenser. The private offices look nice but their glass opened. Each desk in the newsroom has a 21:9 monitor.

It’s honestly one of the most beautiful newsrooms or even offices I’ve seen. Supposedly the remaining area is going to be for town

Edit: On the first picture you see a large black space on the second floor, that’s the largest conference room and where the second picture was taken. I’d also have expected flash cams to be overhead so they would shoot the logos of above the news desk. But there appears to just be two or three cameras in the bottom right with a monitor wall of the first picture.

Very cool. It's so rare these days to see a bespoke graphics package made for just one TV station. That used to be so commonplace 10-20 years ago.

Here's a look at KDKA+'s new primetime news.

Contrary to the tease graphic, the open uses standard CBS O&O graphics, right down to the abstract eyemarks. Their newsroom set is also present during the headlines.

The presentation from the newsroom is by design, in their own words:
Quote:“What I love about that is, if need be, we can literally turn right around from the (anchor) desk and be like, ‘What was that?’ What’s happening?’ (to the assignment desk),” [Shawn] Hoder said. “I love that flow of communication, that old-school way where someone would walk up and hand a note (to the anchor). That can actually come back, and I love that.”
