I don't recognise the studio that CBS is currently using for a special report. Anyone know where it is?

It’s in the Washington D.C. newsroom, it launched quietly last year and has been used for streaming and on weekends for the CBS Weekend News. The networks D.C. newsroom right behind it which also got an update, and the banner where it says “special report” can be changed out depending on what’s being broadcast.

That is the newsroom at CBS's Washington D.C. bureau.

Yeah I think for the west coast ABC O&O's I think the new lower 3rds part of the graphics are a downgrade to what they had before/currently.

Kind of think these should have been the standardized lower 3rds for the group.

Yeah, I really liked those lower thirds too (and the whole package overall), but it did come with some limitations. They couldn't really put much text in them, especially if they used a chip (which was almost-constant on KGO for a while). I also think that after more than eight years, it might be time for a fresh, new look.

The 2012 KABC/KGO graphics were fantastic too – so-so lower thirds, but the animations and everything else were great.

With the start of Super Bowl week and the day after the Grammys (which means the team is all over the place, Gayle King at Studio Center with Anthony Mason, Nate Burleson off due to Nick's Super Bowl coverage, and Jericka Duncan and Vladimir Duthiers filling in with Tony Doukopil back at Times Square), CBS Mornings has unveiled new straps, ticker template, and an ad pushback, which has little to no relation with the rest of CBS News' output. Opens and other graphics remain the same.

The CBS Morning News, in its way, has been absorbed into the Streaming Network's "CBS News Mornings" daypart:

Just when you think CBS has learnt how to maintain a strong, uniform look across its platforms... It will never end.

RE: American News Presentation - sky303 - 05-02-2024

They got rid of the confusing CBS Morning News (on CBS) , CBS Mornings (on CBS) , and then CBS News Mornings (on CBS NEWS Streaming) and made CBS Morning News, CBS News Mornings (on CBS) and dropped the branding to just be a CBS News Hour on CBS News Streaming.

I don't think the new graphics are bad, but I do miss them just using the network bug on the screen, it was different than NBC and ABC just having the simple network logo on the screen. Now using a bulky show name bug.

Take a look at this piece from TVNewser https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/cbs-mornings-debuts-refreshed-graphics-package/

I had to laugh at the quote from the EP about the new look “more in line with the overall CBS look.” Confused

I guess the bit with the logo on the left is slightly more in keeping with the logo block on local stations and the streaming channel than the long yellow block with the show name they previously had.

I quite like the angles and curved edges. I'm not a fan of the boxy look used by the locals and steamer so I'm glad they haven't started using that.

Not sure about changing the CBS Morning News name (which I believe is nearly 40 years old). CBS Mornings and CBS News Mornings sound like the same programme - especially when you consider that CBS Sunday Morning is officially called CBS News Sunday Morning.
