RE: Challenge TV - Neil Jones - 21-09-2023

Well they made their own version of Fort Boyard which I presume they own indefinitely...

RE: Challenge TV - agemame - 21-09-2023

Surely they would still need to clear with Banijay, as holders of the format rights, but the point remains - Sky and Virgin produced a lot of original content they could retain.
There are some issues though, the likes of Cleverdicks had the production company go bankrupt, and even something as relatively new as Videogame Nation doesn't exist in totality as the early series were wiped as deadloss.

It would be interesting to see what they could be prepared to reshow.

Well according to Ukgameshows, Cleverdicks aired February to April 2012.

But this video from the old Challenge YouTube channel (which they haven't used for years and still has the previous look on its header) was put up in July 2012 suggests it had moved to Challenge less than three months later:

Not sure if that means it wasn't a resounding success for Atlantic (though that may have more to do with the fact the channel is only on Sky (and later Now)) and they needed to make it work by shoving it on Challenge, or Atlantic just burnt it off.

It didn’t move to Challenge- it finished its run on Sky Atlantic and Challenge showed the repeats

Yes, there was a Sky One panel show around the same time (hosted by David Williams IIRC) which got a similar treatment.

Just done a quick search for David Walliams on UK Gameshows and was this it? Wall Of Fame, A CPL (Celador) Production for Sky 1 from June to August 2011. Preceding Cleverdicks by around six-ish months at least.

I think in the context of obscure gameshows which aired over a decade ago that counts as "around the same time".

Fair enough. Although as those that know me know me. I am a wee bit of a stickler with my attention for detail. Carry on.

Worzel - Worzel - 24-09-2023

A couple of other Challenge-commissioned shows which we've not seem rerun for a while, TV Scrabble (both the Toby Anstis and Eamonn Holmes versions), Defectors with Richard Orford plus the Simon Mayo retread of Blockbusters and the Malandra Burrows version of Telly Addicts.

Other shows which would be great to see again:

- Trivial Pursuit with Tony Slattery
- Move on Up
- 100%
- Adventure Game
- Celebrity Squares (Bob Monkhouse version)
- 64 thousand dollar question
- Friends Like These
- Whittle
- Ask the Family (Alan Titchmarsh version, not sure if this was a UK TV commission as I recall it being shown on UK Play back in the day)

RE: Challenge TV - nwtv2003 - 24-09-2023

Mayo-era Blockbusters has actually been shown within the last couple of months on Challenge.

Unfortunately that reboot of Blockbusters was pretty much the only original commission in the Sky era.

I think the Granada made Dave Spikey episodes of Bullseye still get shown occasionally.
