Wow. I didn't expect these choices for Challenge? At least they're not in prime time. Now they've bolstered the afternoon schedule, they need some new classic gameshows/quizes (as already indicated) for the evenings or the weekends.

At least this one's actually a gameshow.

Tenaciously, yes, Bargain Hunt is a gameshow but not a "traditional" gameshow as such.

Though it would ultimately last longer than the show that it replaced - The Great Antiques Hunt - by some considerable margin and growing every day.

Has occasional surprises when somebody buys some cheap of tat for £2 that ultimately sells for £160 though.

The Crystal Maze isn't a "traditional" gameshow, nor is Interceptor, Treasure Hunt etc. It'd be a much duller channel if the boundaries were rigidly set at 'game which takes place in a single TV studio with an audience', which is what I imagine you mean by 'traditional gameshow'.

The point is, the channel's name is Challenge, the shows should have some form of challenge. Quizzes obviously do. So do shows like Crystal Maze. Bargain Hunt would qualify under that criteria, but Cash in the Attic and Dickinson's Real Deal do not.

Have you ever watched Cash in the Attic or Dickinson's Real Deal? They most certainly do contain a challenge, multiple in the case of the latter.

Next definition attempt, please.

That's the irritating thing. When Challenge aired other programming that wasn't gameshow related for e.g sports TNA Wrestling, poker or that one time they aired football in late 2020, that still fitted the actual challenge element of the channel while still branching out. The only challenge with Cash in the Attic and Real Deal is watching it without falling asleep as far I'm concerned.

The 'challenge' is quite obviously to raise as much cash as possible by selling stuff from someone's home; with the aim of achieving enough to do something (usually incredibly run-of-the-mill).

See it's the Paul Hendy episodes of Wheel of Fortune airing. One of those faces around for a couple of years(he also did Don't Try This at Home) then vanished without a trace.
