One of the more notable episodes is the 15 September 2001 edition where they had to edit Charles Ingram out, shame nobody thought to get someone to sweep up the confetti! (although I remember from the documentary that the producers had considering stopping his game mid run when they felt something was up but decided to let things carry on as normal in the end so they had chance to review things properly afterwards)

And IIRC (from the drama) 9/11 gave them a bit of breathing space to deal with the matter, so they were still filming pretty close to transmission then.

I think though they pretty much stuck to general knowledge rather than throwing in topical questions like Million Pound Drop did.

Watching it back now, the clues were there - 9 contestants read out instead of 10, an obvious continuity error with Chris' suit. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't go back and record anything 7:30 in to try to smooth it, but I think they just relied on the commercial break to do it. They did at least record something to explain why they suddenly added 10 more Fastest Finger contestants

These things were noticed at the time too.

I wasn't much of a resident of the Blue place, so I hadn't seen that before. It's nice to see a contemporary discussion, even before the story broke and people thinking it was out of respect for 9/11, which isn't as strange a suggestion as it looks now.

Worth noting the original 2002 printing of the tie-in Millionaire Moments book mentions "The Major" very briefly, saying they know there's speculation around it all, but they can't say anything. Later printings after the court action talk about the Ingram case as Celador presented it, but whether it was written at the time and removed on legal advice or written specifically for future editions isn't clear. I don't remember it being particularly insightful as the ghostwriter is more intent on keeping things light, in keeping with the rest of the book

Not sure if "Katherine" migrated to the new forums (probably not, since they hadn't posted on TV Forum since 2005), but the quote "It's time we had a contestant that comes on the [Millionaire] show, is virtually penniless, from a poor background and wins the million. To me, this person will be the first REAL winner."

Seven years on from that post , ooh look, Slumdog Millionaire.

They did definitely re-record other bits of the programme (I e one of the phone in application call outs & the end recap of the show at the end) as the audience is completely different to the one on Charles Ingrams show.

What you mean record anything 7:30?

RE: Challenge TV - Brekkie - 22-02-2024

They've annoyingly added a massive "New to Challenge" DOG tonight (haven't noticed it before) for The Crystal Maze, despite surely showing it multiple times before.
