I get the feeling this might be related to AdSmart, a system Sky implemented to use targeted advertising (in this case, regional ads) on their channels and they're now just implementing it onto Freeview with their FTA channels Pick and Challenge. Odd they never chose to use it on Sky Arts and Sky News, but that's my assumption anyway.

If Rick is watching on Freeview then that message is generated by the TV, or some app on the TV at least.

Ad-smart is totally transparent and AFAIK is only available on the Sky platform (although the website says it works on Virgin too). You don't "opt" into it or even know its there, it juts works.

You do agree to AdSmart on the Sky platform along with a lot of other use of personal information see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-privacy-and-cookies-notice
It also tells you how to opt out by amending your preferences .

It is the intention of Freeview Play to implement Hbbtv Targeted advertising
See section 10 https://www.freeview.co.uk/sites/default/files/2020-08/freeview-play-technical-specification-2021.pdf

So it is all happening !

RE: Challenge TV - Happy2001 - 08-12-2022

Challenge is still using the Weekdays at 3pm advert for Scrapheap Challenge even though it's been moved to 4am on weekdays.

RE: Challenge TV - JAS84 - 08-12-2022

Moved from mid afternoon to overnight? I take it it's a flop then? That show does seem out of place.

Partially as it's 9am Saturday slot and it's 5pm Sunday slot are still there.

RE: Challenge TV - Happy2001 - 12-12-2022

Talking about Scrapheap Challenge they've skipped Series 10 episode 5.
I presume considering the sound quality of the episodes aired from that series I presume it's because of that.

RE: Challenge TV - JasonB - 12-12-2022

I'm guessing we'll have The Chase on all day Christmas day again?

Not quite:
6 - 7am - Teleshopping
7am - 1pm - The Chase
2 - 6pm - Bullseye
7 - 11pm - The Chase: Celebrity Specials
11pm - 6am - The Chase

RE: Challenge TV - JAS84 - 12-12-2022

So that's 19 episodes of The Chase, and 8 episodes of Bullseye. That Teleshopping hour is daft, who does shopping on Christmas Day?

One of Amazon's busiest days for orders being placed is Christmas Day believe it or not.
