Most probably just that - though in practice, I imagine most stations covering only 7.45 kick offs would be done and dusted by 10pm?

Kent, Berkshire and Oxford are all sharing the same late show on Sundays, Harmony Night with Bill Rennells (ex-Radio 2) which apparently has been allowed to continue until the end of the year.

Meanwhile, a change of plan in the West Midlands - WM now ends up sharing Drive with CWR (Trish Adudu) while Stoke is lumped in with Shropshire, Hereford and Worcester.

The original plan was for WM to retain its own show and Stoke to for partner up with Nottingham.

Hmmm.

Yes, it is that, if you look at the programme for 24th October: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0ghgnwz  there are a number of stations that join at 10.30 due to sport.  Apparently the programme will regularly include an opt-in point at 10.30 for any stations joining late.

Stoke was going with Nottingham and Derby, and Leicester was to pair up with Northampton.  The revised sharing arrangements put the stations back into more established groupings which are meant to be roughly along the lines of the television regions, and also avoids the situation of stations sharing with different groups of stations at different times of day - so now we have the East Midlands (Derby/Nottingham/Leicester) staying together, and Northampton staying in the East, sharing afternoons with Three Counties .

Coventry and Warwickshire only existed as an opt-out of WM from 1995-2005, so this should be nothing new for listeners in that part of the country. And although the Stoke/Shropshire/H&W grouping is awkward, it's probably no worse than the original Shropshire/H&W/CWR proposal.

East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire schedules confirmed - Frances Finn joins Radio Lincolnshire to do 10-2 and Carla Greene moves to Humberside daytime.

Think that just leaves the East Midlands and North West line-ups to be announced?

RE: BBC Local Radio - TheRealWB - 10-10-2023

Not seen it mentioned but the legend that was Allan Beswick did his final show on Saturday. He'd been saying he didn't know when his last show would be but then at the start of the show on Saturday said he'd been keeping it from listeners and knew all along.

Was a fairly unremarkable show although Iain Lee called up at one point which was kind of cool. Iain's often said Allan's show influenced his own radio shows.

I know there wasn't long left for the show anyway given Allan's age - he said himself he wouldn't be doing it next year wether it was cancelled or not, but nontheless I'll miss the show. The end of a radio era for me, there's nothing like Allan (or Iain) left on radio these days.

Also South East (Kent/Surrey/Sussex), and South West and Channel Islands, although Devon and Cornwall already have their joint afternoon show.

RE: BBC Local Radio - TJTSW - 10-10-2023

Radio Devon is a right old mess, so we have afternoon drive covered from Radio Cornwall titled the David White show which when i finish work and tune in has nothing local, David white bangs on about werid news stories or a random mixtape and when i say random yesterday was about soap operas ??? i mean surely if you want yo do a mixtape you would be able to keep it Devon and Cornwall related at least? and werid news its random rubbish off the internet from all over the world? why???

the eveninsg is either a devon show at the start of the week and by thursday is seems to be Radio Cornwall with Tiffany Truscott who i dont even really know, as shes seemed to be a new thing when the stations started merging and nows shes leaving...

https://radiotoday.co.uk/2023/10/bbc-radio-cornwalls-tiffany-truscott-to-leave-her-show/

David 'Fitz' Fitzgerald no idea whats happening there, as i work now, during his show so cant listen to it, but lst i heard he was leaving in september but from the Sounds app, he still there till next week at least,

Give radio Devon Breakfast a big hands up they are keeping it local and are getting out and about in Devon. but from afternoons to evening, Radio Devon is either Cornwall or random rubbish from there on in,

It seems BBC South West in general seems to be very Cornwall heavy lead recently too....
I'm not sure if this has always been the case and only noticed it more since Radio Cornwall seem to be doing more since the changes at Radio Devon / Cornwall and you hear more about Cornwall and makes my ears prick up, even when I watch Spotlight now, its Cornwall this and Cornwall that and Devon gets a news in brief .... its only recently that i noticed Cornwall gets more mentioned .

is it like that for any of the other stations you noticed that have merged together or am i just being strange

Dotun Adebayo will present the networked Sunday evening show - sounds like a similar idea to the old Mark Forrest evening show, only more community oriented.

That’s what gets me about these new national ‘local’ shows – they tried it before, it was unpopular, it rated badly, and so they scrapped it.

Now they’re doing it again.

I’m put in mind of that quote about how insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Is the objective for them to be popular, or to save money?
