Seems the end of Dateline London is now next week as mentioned by Shaun Ley at the of this week's edition.

It's hard to put into words what a loss this is. Dateline was pretty much the only weekend program, on any news channel, I was always looking forward to and would tune in to hear smart, experienced journalists talking about last week's top news stories. You just don't get this sort of thing, anywhere, these days. Yet you get a bunch of talking heads chatting about daily papers and stuff, from morning to midnight. Plus the all so important Zoom guests on Fraser's show. Oh, and another show for Atkins. There's enough money in the BBC piggybank for a double dose of his ''explainers''.
CNNI used to have International Correspondents, a weekend show hosted by Fionnuala Sweeney, with a similar premise, which was also great. Its cancelation happened at the moment CNNI's downfall started. The same could be said for BBC at this point.....

Perhaps they'll keep the format but just change the name as BBC News is clearly moving away from being London-centric?

CNN International in it's heyday was excellent at these sort of shows, as well as showcasing journalism around the world with programmes like the superb World Report with Ralph Wenge.
CNNI is a shadow of its former self now sadly.
As for Dateline, well Shaun Ley really has become to own it in recent time, and it's certainly one of BBC News's stronger formats. A shame its going.

Never mind moving away from being London centric, the News Channel is moving away from being UK centric. I tuned in at 10am this morning and 7pm this evening, both times the hour opening with "the latest headlines in the UK and around the world".
Weekday daytime now seems the only time there is no regular simulcasting (aside from the 10am hour).

This is what is very tragic about the whole set up... Surely it should be "this is the BBC from London"???

Yea the NC and WN simulcasts about 10 hours of output on weekdays and about 14 hours on weekends ever since Covid... In case anyone's wondering, here's the schedule of simulcasts:
Mon to Thur:
1000-1100 [Studio E]
1900-2000 (Outside Source) [Studio C]
2100-2200 (The Context) [Studio C]
2300-0600 (2300-0200 is Newsday) [Studio C]
Fri:
1000-1100 [Studio E]
1930-2200 (1930-2000 is Dateline London) [E 1930-2100, C 2100-2200]
2300-0600 [Studio C]
Sat and Sun:
0900-1300 (Sat: 1000-1300) [Sat: E 1000-1300, Sun: C 0900-1100, E 1100-1300]
1900-2200 [Sat: E 1900-2200, Sun: E 1900-2100, C 2100-2200]
2300-0600 [Sat: E 2300-0000, C 0000-6000, Sun: C 2300-0600]
(I'm not sure if the 0900-1300 simuclast will end 1 hour earlier if there's a national bulletin scheduled at Noon)

I'm sure a few months back there was no simulcasting on Saturday morning either, and the Sunday morning simulcast ended at 11am.
But the increase in weekend evening simulcasting is definitely new.
