Very good point! Probably none at all. I mean what is the point of that shift if this is the way forward?
I wouldn't be entirely surprised if in the not-too-distant future they move Newsnight to starting at 22:45 on BBC Two with a 45min duration, and then also simulcast on the News Channel. The 22:30 to 22:45 slot might then feature a sport bulletin instead of the paper review, with the 23:30 to midnight being as per World News (currently Asia Business report & Sport Today).

Given the current cost cutting and planned merger I wouldn't be too surprised if something along these lines happens in the medium-long term. A simulcast of Newsnight would presumably count towards the 'UK opt-out content'.

At the end of the Six tonight it looked like Asad Ahmed was in position for BBC London in studio B rather than Luxmy Gopal in studio A.

Yes, I saw it too! Scroll back on this thread and you'll see Victoria Hollins in another accidental sneak peek earlier this week.

All the best to George Alagiah.

Short answer, No.

The One appears to be having problems this lunchtime. Late going into the first report (audio from report overlapped Chakrabarti in studio), and late coming out (missed first few words of Chakrabarti introducing Jonathan Blake); BBC One continuity (here in NE&C) in general also seemed to transition oddly into the pre-One ident, but don't know if that's related. And Chakrabarti began reading from the papers in front of her introducing the second report, as if the autocue had gone off in the middle of her speaking. Beginning with her introduction to the third report, everything appears to be normal/resolved.

So, with the Chancellor resigning, the BBC News channel is simulcasting with World News in C.

Shaun Ley introduced the resignation as 'Kwasi Kwarteng, Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer and Finance Minister' in the headlines at 1pm.

After the titles, Shaun seemed to get confused about how to refer to the Chancellor, starting off calling him the Chancellor and then Finance Minister. Meanwhile, at least in the UK the astons said 'Chancellor sacked'.

Just a car crash. Why didn’t they just show the One which was going out from E on BBC One?

Cameras all over the place. Shaun Ley was blurred for a good few minutes.

Dying throws of BBC News.

On the One we had a slightly strange section where there was a helicopter following the former Chancellor’s car through the streets of London. It wasn’t entirely clear where they were following him to, so they left it after a while
