More out of studio broadcasts from the Virtual era. Is it possible Justin Webb did the One and Nine from Hong Kong as well on this occasion (and maybe a day or two either side) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV8kHyT_NFk

Oof, greeted with a less-than-smooth cut from the virtual emblem to the Hong Kong skyline! Big Grin

Jokes aside, judging by the time zone differences (HKT is 7 hours faster than BST), a live One from Hong Kong seems possible: It's 8pm over there, plus they did record a highlight of the history there, broadcast after regional lunchtime news in the UK:

As for Nine, it'd be 4am over in Hong Kong, and with the ceremony done hours ago (and closer to Six as 6pm BST = 1am HKT), I doubt there'll be a sleepless anchor covering the event's aftermath live😂

I had no idea this particular fake backdrop was at least 10 years old!

They used that one for BBC News at Five (and possibly other NC programmes from Studio C) from 2013. It certainly wasn't the best, but it was far better than the one that replaced it circa 2021.

It's a miracle that those protesters managed to find their way to N1 in the first place, considering most of the staff managed to regularly get lost in that building.
