Here is an example of the Look East newsroom set being used in 1989 (albeit during a strike):

Arguably the news room set there was taking inspiration from the national news of the time. Indeed we saw that a bit in the pre-generic days across the regions with varying degrees of success.

The more I listen to this, the more I hear echos of older BBC News themes, back in the late 70’s in fact. Or, am I imagining it?

I've always thought of it as a re-working of the theme from the 1980s with a rather bombastic overtone. However, to match my weak eyes, I have to also confess to being musically inept. Tongue

Interesting evening weekday bulletin from 1994. Football coverage obviously caused it to be broadcast late, and with the shortened bulletin, single headed.

Starts with the weekend news intro, but ends with the Six O'Clock play out. Wonder if it was because Martyn mentions the Six will be back tomorrow to remind viewers it will be back to normal

How on Earth has it been 17 years since the last time Moira Stuart presented a BBC News television bulletin!?!

A decade later they are tied down to the desk and a script operating device. How the mighty have fallen....

Weekend 24 from October 1998, but that bed under the Coming Up sequence sounds very familiar

Yep, it's the UK Gold ident used until the end of October 1997

I'm guessing just one of those coincidences of library music?
