That could possibly mean a new studio opening logo is in the works, even though their current one with the Pentagram blue/silver shield was only introduced in 2021.

Good. Frankly, I could never truly get behind the Pentagram shield. It just didn't work for me. The current one isn't much better, but its nice to see it look less needlessly stretched out, and with colour as well.

I assume they'll debut the 'new' logo with The Flash in June.

RE: Warner Bros. Discovery - Company News and Discussion - bkman1990 - 16-05-2023

The Flash was given an advance screening at CinemaCon in the US last month. However: I have no idea whether the movie included the new logo or not. I would assume that WBD want that little detail to be kept as a secret until the movie gets released in cinemas here in mid June.

Back to the centenary... Max is premiering a four-part retrospective on the studio's prized history, and will also be available in other HBO Max markets worldwide. From Leslie Iwerks (granddaughter of Ub Iwerks, and longtime related with the Disney family), the first two episodes premiere on Cannes next Wednesday (on the non-competing Cannes Classics Official Selection) before arriving on Max (in the US) and HBO Max (in Latin America, Europe and East Asia) the following day; it will be also syndicated to HBO partners (including Sky). The final two episodes will premiere on June 1. All episodes will be narrated by Morgan Freeman.

And this is something interesting in the regards of the studio's history: WBD opened its very secret archives vault to the media. Deadline has a showcase of some of this rare archival material, not only from the studio, but also from the classic MGM library, which is only ever accessible by those involved in historical matters, as well as studio and company employees and other VIPs.

So what shows will be on the new Max streaming service when it launches tomorrow?

Probably all the shows and movies that are currently on HBO Max right now, as well as stuff that has not yet made the transition from Discovery+.

Okay. I've also noticed that all Scooby-Doo shows that are on HBO Max (which is now relaunched as Max) are all remastered and restored in HD, including The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show, as well as The Flintstones and The Jetsons, among others.

Also, are Thundercats, Top Cat, Wacky Races (both 1968 and 2017 series), The Perils of Penelope Pitstop and Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines actually also on Max or possibly in other countries?

Also, how come The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries and The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo actually aren't on Max at all?

Thoughts?

RE: Warner Bros. Discovery - Company News and Discussion - XIII - 23-05-2023

I assume that 13 Ghosts being a one series wonder makes it worthless for Max.

Max has launched in the U.S. from today.

https://techcrunch.com/2023/05/23/max-makes-its-debut-in-the-us-warner-bros-discovery-launch/

So far, it is a much smoother launch than HBO Max, but it has still lots of irks in the user end. Some users aren't able to log in, whilst content doesn't load properly in some devices, and VPN usage has been completely scrubbed for HBO Max global users. Additionally, the app hasn't rolled out in many device app stores, Roku users aren't able to open the app (crashing at start), and Apple TV users have also lost frame rate matching, dynamic range (Dolby Vision) matching, app integration, and the tvOS native player. However, the Apple TV and iOS apps have become much more faster and easier to load, and video in most devices have a higher bitrate.

Even with all of these problems, Max is working on a new framework based on discovery+ tech stacks, including using four CDNs from Amazon, Google, Akamai and CloudFront.

The interface looks similar to HBO Max, but the design is much cleaner and has been rebuilt from scratch:

As part of the launch, an expanded offering of UHD content has been made available for Ultimate Pack subscribers, including a large swath of remastered library titles:
