But they also have DMAX by now.

It makes slightly more sense to have DMAX as the Discovery programme carrier and Quest slightly more generalist, although DMAX started off as being the opposite, but quickly became a Quest clone

The three directors were meeting with Zaslav over fears that the channel could be hit with major cutbacks while it's under Zaslav's leadership at the studio.

Now in an interesting twist; Zaslav had also mentioned to Deadline that he did not want to see the channel be hit with cutbacks while the studio was under his leadership tenure.
This is the reason why this is happening: WBD is culling its cable network executives and are placing their teams under the direct oversight of Kathleen Finch and Michael Ouweleen. According to Deadline, Ouweleen, who oversees the Cartoon Network brands, is taking over from TCM GM Pola Changnon, a TCM veteran who has been with the network since launch.

Quote:TCM has also been hit hard by the cuts. As we noted, Pola Changnon, who was EVP and GM of the cable network and who has been with the company for more than 25 years, is leaving and will be replaced by Michael Ouweleen, the President of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Discovery Family and Boomerang, who previously oversaw TCM before the merger.

This is a sort of reunion for Ouweleen, who had already administered these brands during the WarnerMedia era (under the Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics division) in an interim basis, before Tom Ascheim was selected to lead the division.

More changes coming too: WBD is in talks to license some HBO series (in an non-exclusive deal, they will be still on Max) to Netflix, after moving some of its content to the FAST world (including launching channels on Tubi, The Roku Channel and now on Amazon Freevee).

And WBD is also moving on to sell its internal music publishing business (not related to Warner Music Group, now spun-off and separately owned) $500 million. Sony Music is currently the front runner for the library, currently administrated by Universal Music.

TCM Movies UK has been pulled early on Sky. Presumably it is still broadcasting on Virgin. This is likely because they listed their closure as the 6th of July, without realising it was actually the 7th.

Technically, TNT Sports. There's been no news whether or not the space TCM will leave will be re-used by WBD to launch a dedicated TNT feed (almost full circle actually).

A very different TNT though, the old one was basically TCM under another name (plus a few months as an analogue-only general entertainment channel in 1999/2000), the new one is sports.

I mean with a lot of media networks now focusing on streaming (that includes FAST channels like Paramount's Pluto TV), I think they might not use it, plus timeshift channels aren't even on the streaming platforms (like Sky Glass / Sky Stream and Virgin TV Stream).

Well spotted, would be awesome if they did something like that though (as always, my apologies for late reply)

I take it that the image of TCM Movies which is now closed in the UK and Ireland is from TCM UK's Twitter page instead of providing a Twitter link?

Unfortunately, i can't view Twitter because of the page telling people to sign up or log in which has happened last week (30th June 2023)?
