RE: International Presentation - Medianext.MX - 02-01-2023

Worth noting that the other Balkan Novas have been using the graphics package of its longer established Croatian sister (designed by Ericsson/Red Bee Media) since 2020. The first to adopt it was the Serbian channel, followed by the Bosnian and Montenegro versions. Worth noting also that all Nova channels are owned by United Media (the content subsidiary of United Group, the owner of a half dozen cable companies in the Balkans, Eastern Europe and Greece), hence the unification of all brands. United bought Nova TV Croatia from CME in 2018.

To other news now, Netherlands’ SBS6 has a new logo and graphics package from today.

RE: International Presentation - Medianext.MX - 02-01-2023

A follow up to the Azteca America closure: the reason for the closure is a partnership signed by TV Azteca (which provided most content to Azteca America) with Estrella TV, leading to most TV Azteca shows gradually moving from AA to Estrella TV. They are even partnering to produce binational entertainment programming which will air simultaneously in the USA through Estrella TV and in Mexico through TV Azteca.

The first such instances were the Regional Mexican music award Premios de la Radio, a Latino version of MasterChef featuring contestants from both the USA and Mexico, and the reboot of La Academia (a reality singing show similar to Fame Academy/Star Academy), which involved contestants from both countries and other Central American nations (TV Azteca also owns channels in Guatemala and Honduras).

Additionally, TV Azteca had already sold Azteca America to an equity firm, HC2 Holdings (now known as INNOVATE Corp), which had also dealt with Azteca to retain its programming on the network. However, as time passed, Azteca began losing many full powered affiliates, mostly resorting to low powered stations owned by them, as well as subchannels in many border cities. The few affiliates which stood with Azteca mostly switched to Estrella TV or closed down; in other instances, HC2 sold some affiliates, for example, those in California went to local ethnic broadcasting company MMC Media Holdings, based in Los Angeles; the stations sold to the group switched to relay Sonora’s state broadcaster Telemax, which has already a large number of LPTV relays in the US. Other stations, like KRGV, switched to independent status, adding some hours of programming from Latino niche networks like Venevision’s Novelisima.

The video makes that design a lot better than the still. There’s something about either the shade of blue, the numeral, the font choice or a combination of all three that makes it seem very old.

Expecting TVB Pearl to do the same.
Happy New Year!

Slight correction: They had been doing that since 2016.

It's certainly unprecedented then though, as the station went by solely its symbol since its birth (with some on-and-off usages in the 70s).

Here's the promo endboard from the new package:

Combined with the recently-rebranded Ch.85 and TVB Pearl/News Channel still rocking the 2016-17 packages, this make 3 different textures for the TVB symbol alone. I do wonder how much effort is made on things like this...

Additionally, a promo for the new All Stars season of America’s Got Talent has a look at the new network frontcap (which replaces the NBC Presents one from 2019).
There's also a new promo DOG, according to NewscastStudio:

It seems like the new ‘curtain riser’ hasn’t made its debut yet as the NYE special was introduced with the old one. A Toast to 2022, the programme before the countdown special, even switched back to the old DOG - but it’s returned after the show.

On that TVB rebrand, so now they have 5 textures on its on-air services - 3 for the DOGs, 1 for ending credits, 1 for trailer endboards… Plus 1 for its website, 1 for news website, and 1 for social media pages… And sometime they can show 3 different logos on the same webpage!

NBC's been switching between the DOGs for the past few weeks, it seems -- I saw a similar situation between Dateline (old DOG, 9pm) and The Wheel US (new DOG, 10pm) on December 23.

RE: International Presentation - NancerInTheCafe - 03-01-2023

I dont see the need for the "NBC" text in the DOG, surely the peacock is iconic enough to stand on it's own?

Absolutely, but NBC has alternated DOGs with both yes and no NBC text. Between 1997 and 2002, NBC had a transparent peacock as DOG; it added the NBC word mark by 2002; with the HD switch and the More Colorful era arriving, the peacock became again standalone as DOG (alongside the move to its current position).

Maybe Dateline is the only programme using the old DOG as A Toast to 2022 is also produced by the Dateline team.

Some updates: New curtain raiser is launched before AGT All Star - wondering it’s integrated with the programme or played separately by the network.

Integrated with the programme. The previous front cap (NBC Presents) was also integrated within other shows and series, and when shown in most overseas nations, it was retained during these transmissions.

Yes I noticed how they ran NBC Presents before.

So it’s still different than CBS, which runs the logo as a proper ident before its shows.
