I also missed this last year: WITF, the local PBS affiliate in Central Pennsylvania, switching to a new symbol that sort of looks like AMD's in November.

Moving on, NHK in Japan is reorganizing its satellite channels. Two high-definition channels, BS1 (1440x1080) and BS Premium (1920x1080), are to be merged into a new 2K resolution channel in December, while BS4K is to undergo a redistribution of satellite waves. Some main points of that in their recent conference include:

The names of the new combined 2K channel and reorganized 4K channel are TBD later in Spring, currently using the provisional names of "New BS2K" and "New BS4K";

Almost all current BS1 and BSP programming are to be transferred to "New BS2K";

Sports programming will be included in "New BS2K", while "New BS4K" will chime in in big events like the Olympics;

The resolution of "New BS2K" will be the same as BS1's;

A documentary series about ancient Mayan civilization will be shot in 4K and broadcast on "New BS4K";

In preparation for the change, BSP and BS4K will have the same lineup from April, but programmes shown on the latter will still be in pure 4K.
With BSP was previously formed from the high-def BS hi and SD BS2 back in 2011, it'll be interesting to see how their channel portfolio be condensed into.

Staying in Asia, i-Cable Group in Hong Kong will close its cable TV service after nearly 3 decades, by the end of May, shifting their focus to their FTA channels. Their current license was originally extended in 2017, and to be ended in 2029:
Quote:CABLE TV expects to terminate its pay TV broadcast on 1 June, 2023. CABLE TV will handle the arrangements of existing subscribers’ Pay TV service and related matters as appropriate. CABLE TV will use its best endeavour to ensure customers can continue to enjoy watching both pay TV and free TV channels before the Pay TV licence is surrendered. After the surrender of the Pay TV licence, CABLE TV will continue to take measures to ensure the reception of the existing free TV channels by the public is unaffected.
Aside from the loss-making service, other aspects of the group, such as the synonymous News department, will work as usual.

Over in Europe, after rebranding its channels under the Play branding back in 2021, SBS Belgium was renamed to Play Media:

In Turkey TELE 1 Went off air For 3 days by the Broadcasting Regulator (RTÜK)

Translated in english from The turkish Birgun Website:

The Radio and Television Supreme Council, which evaluated the live broadcast criticism of religion by Sera Kadıgil, Deputy of the Workers' Party of Turkey as a crime, blacked out TELE 1 screens for three days.

TELE 1 live broadcast has been suspended for three days as of tonight.

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) blacked out the TELE 1 screens for three days, citing the criticism of the Workers' Party of Turkey (TIP) Deputy Sera Kadıgil about the Diyanet and the imam-hatips, that "Diyanet is a political Islamist tool in its current form".

The documentary sent by RTÜK will be broadcast on TELE 1 screens for three days. The license of the channel will be revoked as a result of the same penalty being imposed on TELE 1 two more times.

TELE1 applied to the judiciary for the annulment of RTÜK's unjust and unlawful sentence and for the stay of execution. Ankara 2nd Administrative Court unanimously decided to stay the execution.

RTÜK objected to the court's stay of execution decision. The decision went to the Ankara Regional Administrative Court. This court decided to cancel the stay of execution.

According to the information conveyed by the channel, the 3-day "screen blackout" penalty given to TELE1 by RTÜK will be applied until February 25.

Quote:As part of the celebration, KBS will unveil its new Corporate Identity design in March, 2023, the first-ever change of its brand image since the foundation 50 years ago. Other anniversary events include;
● to host the 2023 Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Seoul General Meeting and Associated Meetings
● to produce special programming on the History of KBS : Public Broadcasting over 50 Years
● to select and review 50 people who have contributed to KBS
But that's basically what we know about so far.

We might finally know the date for the relaunch: March 3. That day, as this promo implies, KBS News will launch its new studio, which is being already previewed in this promo. Still, there hasn't being any leak of the new corporate design, nor it is for sure it will happen that day.

Paramount Comedy in the Russian-speaking area (Russia/Ukraine)* was rebranded to a Russian feed of Comedy Central:

*Logopedia said it was the Ukrainian channel that was changed, but Wikipedia said it was the Russian channel.

Over in Hungary, women's channel Max4 was launched a month ago:

Maybe, it's my trouble in Logopedia and I forgot that the Russian-languaged feed is still broadcasting in CIS (but not in russia and belorussia). Ukrainian feed is exist and distributed by Studia 1+1.

The Ukrainian feed is a separate channel

A new promo of the new set has been released, with a clue on how the new corporate design will look: it looks like the new logo will be a tweaked version of the existing word mark. It does makes sense however, given it is already identified as the KBS brand, and here does apply the "it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra, although with a bit of modernizing to adapt it to multiplatform content:

That's what I believe as well, because the last time I checked a live stream of Paramount Comedy Ukraine channel, they were simulcasting another channel's Ukraine war special coverage.

I'm kinda curious if most of the Ukrainian channels are still on special coverage, or some of the networks had returned to airing regular programming.
