RE: International Presentation - W. Knight - 24-10-2023

Japanese commercial network TV Tokyo debuted a new corporate identity, ahead of its 60th anniversary.
The new symbol drops the quarter-century-old globe motif, but maintained the blue and pink colour palette, with a pink arrow symbolizing 7 (their digital TV channel number), an arrow "into people's hearts", and a heart "looking forward to a better tomorrow". The new identity will be used starting 13 November.

This press release, in Japanese, has the details on the rebrand.

Over in Malta, their public TV station TVM rebranded back in early October, simplifying and flattening their 2021 symbol.

There're also some interesting proposals that never got acknowledged (allegedly) back when the overarching broadcaster, PBS, was in search of a new identity 2 years prior:

Since we are just one week away from Record TV unveiling its new logo, let's go down memory lane to see how the network teased and later launched their latest logos:

2012 - The teasers featured Record's backstage team "building" the new logo (which was hiding in plain sight in a few of them), with a few of the network's talent:
Gugu Liberato (1959-2019):

Marcelo Rezende (1951-2017):

Ana Hickmann (still at Record):

Marcos Mion (now at TV Globo):

One of the promos for the actual relaunch, which happened during Domingo Espetacular (Record's Sunday magazine show, their response to TV Globo's Fantástico):

And the moment the then-new logo was revealed:

2016: Some of Record's talent told their stories of re-invention, in line with what would be later revealed as the network's slogan, "Reinventar é a nossa marca" ("Re-inventing is our signature"):
Ana Hickmann:

Gugu Liberato:

Rodrigo Faro (still at Record):

Fábio Porchat (co-founder of Porta dos Fundos - now 51% owned by Paramount, which expanded the franchise to Mexico and Poland, as "Backdoor", with the founders, including Porchat, retaining a 49% stake - and now with a show on Globo's GNT and TV Globo, produced by Porta dos Fundos)

A promo for the relaunch, which happened on Jornal da Record, their main evening newscast:

Now, a year after the Hoy TV relaunch in Hong Kong, their English sister channel was finally changed from HKIBC (Hong Kong International Business Channel - already a mouthful, ey?) to Hoy IBC.

Sadly, the graphics package remains the same as their inagural one back in 2018 (!), with the promo endboard and DOG now bears the name of Hoy 76 (highlighting their DTT channel number) and the ident animation changes into the central dot in the Hoy wordmark.

For comparison, this was the HKIBC graphics:

Over in Latin America, Adult Swim has taken TruTV's place as a 24-hour channel.

Is the channel still mostly Bloomberg simulcasts on weekdays with the occasional opt out for the English news and Mandarin financial bulletins?

Indeed it is, with a dash of DW, CGTN and Fashion TV imports. They're helped by Cable's more active position to sports though - they justed aired World Aquatics and the Asian Games over the past month or two.

RTL Group will launch four new thematic cable channels in Hungary later this year to reach viewing groups not adequately served by their current channel offer and challenge TV2 Group’s growing advantage in ratings.

RTL Otthon - gastronomy, cooking competitions, home improvement and do-it-yourself content, targeted to mature women
Filmklub - European movies, dramas, crime films, classic comedy movies (e.g. Midsomer Murders, Agatha Christie movies, Rosamunde Pilcher films), targeted to 4+ women
Sorozatklub - docu-realities, crime series, drama series, romantic series (Downton Abbey, Father Brown etc.) targeted to rural 50+ women
Kölyökklub - cartoons for kids

Quite interesting that three of those don't have RTL in their names but rather use the Klub brand which RTL Hungary only recently removed from their main channel. Seems odd.

Biggs in Portugal recently went through a major overhaul of its brand, ditching the purple logo it's used since launch for a new green one. It also changed its programming from cartoons and anime to teen-oriented series and sitcoms to suit its new teen/young adults demographic they're aiming for.
