Yes, there certainly was a version of the red screen which gave instructions to change your region settings to get the correct regional news.

The region selector has been removed from some versions of iPlayer but I think the stream is still there for now.

Unless recently changed, it still be seen in the mornings when the iPlayer homepage has a link to watch Breakfast 'LIVE'.

Remember today is the final official day fir support of the SD-HD switchover on satellite.

Not sure if the caption will change again after today or on Monday.

We still don't know exactly when the feeds will go off but the BBC have now removed any reference to late March on the reception.acbice page

RE: BBC One Nightlight - Jimbo2022 - 16-02-2024

RE: BBC One Nightlight - Jimbo2022 - 23-02-2024

At time of writing, Sky version of EPG data relating to BBC SD grey slate channels end at 9600 on Friday 1 March

Freesst data continues

Prior to today the final entry showing up was 9600-1800 7 days after today. But as of today there is nothing after 1800-0600 39 Feb-1 March.

Will keep check on thus. Sky may drop these channels next weekend. We will see. Still not confirmed

Update relating to SD BBC feeds

All SIDs that DO NOT utilise Freesat EPG only have EPG entries of '...programmes no longer available' every 12 hours at 0600 and 1800 until and including 2800 on 39 February 2024 This includes BBC1 SD dummies used for different regions on Sky (6491 Ireland, 6425 South, 6436 Midlands and 6427 North).

All Irish SIDs (6492 BBC2, 6493 BBC3, 6494 BBC4, 6495 CBBC and 6596 CBeebies) also end listings at 0600 on 1 March IE last entry 1800 29 Feb

All UK primary SIDs including bbc1 (6411), and the other 8 channels which DO appear on Freesst have 'Service Closed' for title and synopsis ongoing. All except BBC1 SID 6411 have EPG data for Freesat at 0300, 0900, 1500 and 2100 and update every 6 hours.

BBC1 SUD 6411 has 'Service Closed' as for other Freesat channels but at 0000, 0600, 1200 and 1800.

This may indicate all dummies may stop after Thursday with the rest continuing with just BBC1 staying on Sky boxes and all 9 staying on Freesat boxes.

We will have to see, but this is a possibility due to EPG junction patterns as Sky use 06/12/18/00, and Freesat use 03/09/15/21.

Will keep an eye on them.

RE: BBC One Nightlight - interestednovice - 25-02-2024

It’s possible that the actual video feeds are getting switched off as of the 1st of March, and then it will be up to the arrangements the BBC have made with Freesat & Sky regarding how long they will keep “placeholder” EPG entries.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the BBC are handing back the transponder on the 1st of March.

Anyway, thanks Jimbo for continuing your faithful logging here - it’s been very interesting to read and see how the BBC are going about these changes!

The slates are still there and the EPG was updated as it was before, with 'programmes no longer available' on Sky and Service closed on Freesat.

Will keep. Becking but I am almost certain the BBC have to see out a contract with SES

RE: BBC One Nightlight - Stooky Bill - 04-03-2024

I don't think they will have to see out a contract - SES won't mind if the transponder is empty as long as it's been paid for. But then there's little reason why the BBC shouldn't just use up all the time they have paid for and keep going until near the end of the contract.

I imagine that as the end of the financial year is at Easter weekend, they'll probably turn it off the week before
