RE: GB News - London Lite - 04-11-2022

Bev Turner seems to be another one of those presenters who changes her political stance to suit the editorial agenda of the work she's offered.

GBN has a strong if completely nuts evening block of opinion that works well for them, but as mentioned above it's a bit of a mixed bag of news and opinion during daytime which doesn't quite work. It also feels like a Sky News retirement home for those who are on their final gigs before they retire.

Darren has finally confirmed he's leaving.

Truly, a loss to British broadcasting…

I never watched Darren's show on GB News - was it really terrible? If it was a success, I am sure GB News would have kept him.

I’ve got to be honest, whilst I do like GB News, he’s not the greatest presenter.

The content is no different to much of their other output but he’s a difficult watch as a presenter…very stilted and unsure delivery.

Whenever I've seen Real Britain, it looks like they use such a tight shot with a strange background that it looks like it comes from a green screen backdrop from his mam's spare room, but it actually comes from Paddington.

As for Darren's delivery, it's a strange one as his videos on YouTube seem a tad better than his live presenting ability.

I dare say that Darren will be building his social media platforms along with a substack blog and podcast. They all seem to be doing these things whenever presenters leave a linear channel.

If the stories about his reputation at GBNews are true then it sounds like ratings weren't the only reason. Crafty

What has happened to Michael Portillo’s show as the political correction is on now. Has he left?

It's frustrating the way GB News do this.

They either announce things that never happen, or they do happen but then are quietly dropped a short time afterwards, with no explanation.

A similar notable example was that weekend sports show they announced, which ran for about three weeks then vanished.
There are other examples.

I get that things change, plans change, things don't work, but at least tell us, the viewers. (Especially us presentation enthusiasts!)

Regarding Portillo, it was only on for about three weeks, surely not enough time to judge it a failure. I don't understand it.
And surely The Political Correction couldn't have been performing that well for it to have replaced to start with, and yet it's back in exactly the same format with exactly the same presenters as before. It simply doesn't make sense.

The farce with Darren Grimes is kind of similar, he's in, he's out, he's in, he's out. I don't get why they brought him back (with half the rostered shows) only to then fire him (which I think is what's happened).

Never any real information over Colin Brazier and Alex Phillips either, though at least there it became clear very quickly what had happened, and it wasn't mere weeks after they'd started!
