RE: GB News - Rory N - 06-11-2022

I think that GB News need to find a format and schedule that works as clearly it’s getting annoying that they need to change their schedules every few weeks. That is why I stick with the established broadcasters.

Gloria De Piero has disappeared from her existing slot as well. She was co-hosting GB Newsday with Mark Longhurst and had been in that slot solo or previously alongside Liam Halligan for some time. She was absent last week (and the tail end of the week before). The slot is now being billed on listings as 'GB News Live with Mark Longhurst'.

He was presenting a show on Times Radio last Saturday, according to this Tweet.

Was he also presenting a programme on there whilst doing his Sunday show on GB News?

Apologies if this has been posted previously or on another forum, but I was only sent it yesterday and it's a great listen if you've got 42 mins to spare on a rainy day like today. A really interesting review of what went on at GBNews up to May of this year.

Is that not exactly what they’re trying to do?

I think his show on Times Radio is only on Friday nights, also looks like he wasn’t in this week. I do wonder if the plan is to alternate runs of the Political correction and Portillo, as he seemed to be presenting the former occasionally beforehand. Although no reference to Portillo was made at the beginning of todays programme with Arlene only saying “after a short break, we’re back”.

His documentaries aside, I think he’s someone who works better on radio than on TV in the presenter role.

I think Rory’s point was more that they need to let formats bed in for a while, rather than introducing and axing shows every few weeks.

The Portillo thing is strange. Perhaps he has had a falling out with someone at the top of GBN?

RE: GB News - London Lite - 06-11-2022

I'm still not convinced Cleese will turn up to present his show in the new year.

He didn’t even turn up on Headliners when he was meant to. I also think aside from the culture wars stuff, he’ll also clash with a lot of the general direction of GB News.

If Gloria De Piero has gone, that’s 4 presenters they managed to cut from daytime without replacement which has got to represent a few hundred thousand in savings, in the last few months. At the same time they seem to be recruiting loads of people, but there is only an infinite amount of slots considering they only seem to want to use Fridays and weekends for anyone new.

RE: GB News - PERMOTIO - 06-11-2022

Disappointed to hear Gloria's gone. She was a great presenter and a nice balance to some of the more right-wing presenters.

As a pres fan, it's fun to watch new shows come and go, and it's refreshing for a news channel to be so open to changing and ripping things apart when they don't work. To The Point was a poor show (I just didn't rate Merci as a presenter, though she's improved a great deal since the channel launched). Curious to see what daytime will look like in six months' time, especially now they're positioning daytime shows around talent (Bev, Patrick, Mark).
