I don’t get the need for glitzy sets. What was wrong with tonight’s forum set? It’s obviously a one-show only thing and as far as that goes it was fine.

This was extremely well put together I thought, and much better than I expected it to be. Need more of this sort of thing as the election nears.
Apart from the amusing moment one of two audience members (who claimed they were injured by the Covid vaccine) got kicked out, whilst Sunak was saying they shouldn’t be silenced it was pretty boring and felt like a campaign rally. As I said they either needed the host to be able to challenge points made or at least get the audience member who asked the question to give their reaction otherwise the politician can make any claim they like unchallenged. Although they couldn’t really justify changing the format now if someone from another party turns up.

Here’s the incident mentioned above. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nWJyEB7MkkY&pp=ygUMUmlzaGllIHN1bmFr
They did appear to remove the audience member quite skillfully though.

Think they showed a glimpse of the other one leaving not long after.

Makes a change. Usually on GB News, someone's telling Keir Starmer to "do one".

(Sorry... it was right there! Big Grin )

RE: GB News - Stooky Bill - 13-02-2024

Some background to the man asking that question, John Watt....

Seems he and the other 'vaccine injured' man he mentions know each other and arrived together.

John has appeared on GB News before, on an episode of Mark Steyn's show just before he was fired for misinformation. He has a bit of an interesting past too

In the below thread, someone else mentions that one of the other audience members is a familiar face on GB News too. Wonder if the audience really was randomly selected or there just wasn't that much demand for tickets?

The idea of it is good, but the premise of it is essentially 1hr of party politics without further questioning on what is being said. I think there was just the once where Stephen asked a follow up question but did say that he shouldn't be.

Safe to say, Ofcom are assessing the programme if they'll be an investigation into that incident: https://twitter.com/Ofcom/status/1757346341431242835

According to Mark Steyn he wasn't fired for misinformation. He made a video where he gave two reasons. The main one being that the renewal contract reaffirmed Steyn's obligation to keep within Ofcom rules and added that the cost of any gross violations would fall on his production company. The 2nd reason was because GBNews had the Westminister Live facility install a defibrillator after he literally had a heart attack moments after he finished one of his shows.

Both reasonable actions by GBNews which caused him to throw toys out the pram.

After he presented The People’s Forum, you’d think Stephen Dixon would be front runner to be their election anchor so they might have tried him out for this. That said he does Breakfast the next morning so perhaps that’s why he’s not.

It’ll be interesting what studio they use, logistically you’d think Paddington would be easier but arguably Westminster looks better particularly for this kind of thing. I’m assuming at that time there is no advantage from being Westminster based in terms of guests.

I think this the first time in their three year history GB News will be live all night.
