GBN to develop Westminster studio of its own

Interesting note about allowing upgrades of existing studio by having an alternative

RE: GB News - derek500 - 23-03-2023

GB News is building “a major new multi-studio broadcast centre” in Westminster ahead of the next general election, alongside their main studio in Paddington. Expected to be completed later this year, the new complex will be a “high-tech digital production facility” near Parliament, which incoming Political Editor Chopper will call home – alongside new Deputy Political Editor Tom Harwood and the rest of the political team. Other new programmes based in the studio are set to be announced soon…

GB News’ Head of Technology and Operations Stephen Willmott said:

“The new facility will be a big boost to our production capability, both for broadcast and for digitally exclusive content and podcasts. It will also allow us to complete an ongoing upgrade our main studios.”

There is one good thing if it will be completed later this year. It means they can decamp everyone there and finally do something decent to Paddington.

RE: GB News - KrazyKei - 23-03-2023

Well I said they either needed to improve the studios or move into brand new ones. I'm very curious as to which of the rooms they will be taking over at the QEII Centre and how much it is costing them in rent to HM Government. I'm also curious as to what the studios will look like when finished.

With that said, I hope they will renovate the Paddington Studios as well to make it more formal and yet modern. And yes, I hope that they get rid of that cringy sofa, it looks dire and unprofessional.

It’s not something that concerns OFCOM but I do have to say, despite liking a lot of GB News’s output, that things like this really let them down.

Especially the fact that Wootton’s show has the tagline: ‘No Spin, No Bias, No Censorship’.

No issue at all with Dan sharing his opinions and I’ll happily listen whether I agree or disagree, but at least a) be honest about the biases of the show and b) try and be balanced.
Dan is copying Fox News in claiming no spin etc.  Dan is the most biased presenter on GB News, who always ensures his "All Star Panel" are designed to be all in his favour. Dan joined by two right wingers who usually agree with Dan and of course a token liberal, who seems are there to be shouted at by Dan during the course of the two hours. Thrilling television ... not.

I don't watch GB News or Talk TV anymore. I used to tune in now and again. I am centre left in my politics, and I just can't stand the unbalanced nature of both channels. Both moan and complain that the other news outlets are all left wing and unbalanced. Then they offer a right wing view with no balance at all. Off putting, I switched off.

Presentation wise, I hope the new Westminster studio doesn't have the same issues they had at Paddington Basin in 2019 with fuzzy cameras due to poor lighting along with all the other problems they suffered in the early days.

From a news standpoint, I hope this is the start of a commitment to actually provide news from Parliament rather than it being Guido on TV?

2019? It launched in June 2021!
