If you go down that route of basing it on population most English Regions would have better facilities than BBC Wales.

and the cost of getting TV to the CI .......  international circuits are not cheap!
(but IOM is cheap as there is so much circuit diversisty to Ireland)

But being a PSB - and particuarly the one with additional requirements - the cost of making your output freely and widely available
just has to be paid - otherwise you are not being a PSB (and for the BBC  meeting the public purposes)

RE: BBC/ITV South East News - Spencer - 20-08-2023

I’m not saying the Channel Islands shouldn’t have any BBC service, but given they don’t have a lunchtime bulletin or a full evening bulletin, the BBC clearly accepts that it’s not good value for licence fee payers for such a small patch to have the same level of output as the other regional/national opts.

And given they aren’t using their studio for half the time of the other programmes around the British Isles, do they really need a flashy new studio requiring structural changes to their building? It doesn’t strike me as great value in a time of big budget and staff cuts.

There have been several mentions of the Isle of Man in relation and yet they don’t even get their own radio station let alone any TV opts. That doesn’t seem fair when you consider what the Channel Islands get.

The presence of Manx Radio and that being Isle of Man Government owned and part Goverment funded is what has kept a BBC Manx radio from coming.

Only another 24 hours until the weekly ritual, passed down for generations by my ancestors, of checking-in on BBC One South East HD every Monday evening for the inevitable disappointment of SET still being in its "temporary" set for yet another week/month/decade...

RE: BBC/ITV South East News - London Lite - 14-09-2023

Rachel Mackley returned from maternity leave at lunchtime.

RE: BBC/ITV South East News - Nobby - 14-09-2023

Ellie Crisell said that Rachel Mackley would be back at 18:30 but she wasn't, nor was she back at 22;30. It was John Hammond on both occasions, live at 18:30 and recorded at 22:30. Ellie Crisell herself presented all three programmes.

They may be ready for piloting the new studio after the issues TW have had over the summer, so Rachel may well have been in the studio to do a test bulletin while Ellie was in the meeting room.
