S4C had two services then so the analogue version which still aired C4 shows may have taken C4 News until Newyddion did anything. Of course C4 News rarely do newsflashes either.

Yes, they did.

That’s why the version on digital platforms was called S4C Digidol (S4C Digital in Welsh).

Normally, they would have carried the Channel 4 News summary within the daily political programme at noon (House to House, I think it was called, later Powerhouse)

Plus there were the ITN bulletins in The Channel 4 Daily and The Big Breakfast (on occasion, replaced by a Channel 4 News Special of course) and I think, Midnight Special, as well.

The first Welsh language bulletin of the day would have been Ffeil at 5.15 (and that was only three days a week for starters) before it later moved to 4.50 each weekday.

For what it was worth, S4C Digidol did not have any extra bulletins despite having a whole slate of original content at launch (‘Prynhawn Da’, aka Wedi 3, is probably the last surviving show from that era)

An interesting change with the advent of ITVX now carrying Wales-specific programmes. Tonight's Wales at Six like is often the case had a feature taken from one of the ITV Wales programmes (in this case Country Lives), but instead of previewing an upcoming episode, this was from last week's programme so they could advertise the programme was on ITVX.

I think today is the first time Carl Edwards has presented the ITV Wales News (or almost certainly Wales at Six) since he returned from a mainly an off-camera role at BBC Wales for a few years.

Still a holiday feel on ITV Wales this week, with Mike Griffiths hosting yesterday and Ruth Dodsworth absent from the weather after being on GMB over Christmas.

And good to see Carl back as well - I imagine he's also taking on a fairly senior role at ITV, as well. Noticed there's been a fair turnover in their editorial team lately (an old friend of mine was one of their content editors until last Autumn)

Sadly, Ruth has suffered a family bereavement this week.

A new weather sponsor on ITV Wales as well, with TUI taking over from Transport for Wales rail. I think it was GWR before that, no idea if it has to be a transport company.

It was GWR for a long time, and then in Autumn 2021 Transport For Wales took over, GWR sponsored the weather for ITV Meridian & West Country too, they are now sponsored by Vailant

Funnily enough, I think the sponsors before that were Flybe (R.I.P) and Vueling/Cardiff Airport.

A cynic would suggest this is because so many people want to leave Wales, but we know that's not true... Wink

If they're the same as STV's, they get monotonous very quickly. We've had them for STV Weather for a good few years now.
