RE: BBC/ITV North East News - Former Member 406 - 11-05-2023

Amy welcomed NE&C viewers after the title sequence.

None of the opening headlines were specifically from the NE&C area (albeit that - as Andrew has noted - the TransPennine Trains story naturally has overlap relevance in both regions, and one of the headlines was a "North Yorkshire" story (the wording was no more location-specific than that) which is of course a county with a large amount of Emley/Bilsdale TX overlap).

It'll be interesting to see if the odd report package from firm NE&C-only territory will be peppered into the running order, and whether there's a suitably pan-regional weather forecast (hopefully not cutting off most of Northumberland beyond the top edge of the screen, and putting a place name label way-out in the North Sea...)

The extended coverage of the Sheffield United promotion celebrations won’t have gone down well though

RE: BBC/ITV North East News - Brekkie - 11-05-2023

Presumably work to rule means just that, so no handling reports from another region.

RE: BBC/ITV North East News - Former Member 406 - 11-05-2023

Another story with natural links to both regions occurred after 18:45...

A dangerous driver from Bishop Auckland (in County Durham - and therefore comfortably *not* in the Emley overlap zone) who was chased by police in "North Yorkshire" (again, no more specific locations were mentioned). It's the kind of story that likely would've featured on both the Leeds and Newcastle programmes anyway, if the latter had gone ahead.

EDIT: Weather map only showed the usual BBC Yorkshire region.

RE: BBC/ITV North East News - London Lite - 11-05-2023

So unless you happen to live in the crossover area between Emley/Blisdale in North Yorkshire, there was nothing?

The TPE story was relevant to the North East and Cumbria, but unless you live in Sunderland and support a different red/white striped football team than would be the norm, then yes there was nothing of relevance

Continuity on BBC NE&C before the Six O'Clock News said "Now on BBC1 Yorkshire...". I'm guessing they just decided to temporarily switch BBC1 NE&C to the Yorkshire region, because that definitely wasn't said before the Six yesterday.

RE: BBC/ITV North East News - Andrew - 12-05-2023

There was some content for the NE & Cumbria tonight - the weather included both regions and there was a story including a live report from Newcastle crown court

Yes that's exactly how it works - they (a centralised control room) just switch the output of the studio to go out in both regions.

RE: BBC/ITV North East News - Steve in Pudsey - 13-05-2023

Although as it's only the journalists on strike they could have done it the other way, taken Leeds output via the Newcastle gallery and opted out of the symbol with an announcement apologising for the lack of usual service.
