Red Nose Day - Omnipresent - 02-03-2023

Like Children In Need last year, the live Red Nose Day Friday night show will run for three hours between between 7pm and 10pm.

A real shame though at least there is some post news content. Possible that might play out live as the prize thing did last time, but the length and content suggest probably not.

A bit of a surprise for the 10pm filler on BBC2 - they're looking back at the first Celebrity Big Brother which was done in aid of Comic Relief, back in the days before TV companies had to get their chequebooks out to get celebs to do a reality show for charity.

It aired across C4 and the BBC for a week, with nightly highlights on C4 and a 10-minute cut on BBC1 after the news, plus the final live as part of the Red Nose Day broadcast.

It doesn’t sound a very interesting evening at all this year, Could be a very low rating night.

Like Children in Need, Red Nose Day is a shadow of it’s former self.

Will they be able to show clips of Jack Dee? When Channel 4 did a show about past celeb BBs in the mid 00s, they were unable to show any footage of Jack Dee or Les Dennis because they refused to give permission. Quite awkward to do something on the first celeb BB when you can't show any footage of the winner. Maybe they've lightened up in the years since.

You'd imagine they'd view it differently for charity rather than a C4 filler programme.

Despite it being done for charity and lasting just eight days, it seemed to send all the participants into a collective breakdown, so I’m not sure why they want to revisit it

RE: Red Nose Day - Gary Baldy - 03-03-2023

Comic Relief doesn’t seem to have much comedy these days, which is kind of vital to the show’s format. It’s indistinguishable from Children in Need at the moment.

Also I see red noses and other red nose memorabilia is now available to buy on Amazon rather than Sainsburys

Will this have a negative effect on sales?
