Perhaps they'll all refuse. We'll have MOTD with Rylan

HA!

I was thinking how difficult it would be for his colleagues to present the show in his place. Ian Wright's stance is a strong one. I expect many others will follow suit.

It will probably be Mark Chapman as he has covered for Gary before.

This is going to turn into a bloodbath for the BBC.
Might be an opportunity for the BBC to test out potential new host(s) and pundits, depending on how long this standoff lasts. I imagine there's quite a few people with a football background that would be more than willing and competent as a pundit and/or host, even if it was for a fraction of the salary.

Other than that, it does seem to be a bit of a lose-lose situation for the BBC.

I’m sure they won’t get that far. Manish Bhasin or some other failing sports presenter with a heightened sense of self importance will almost certainly jump at the chance.

This is why having Dan Walker on board is so important for 5 News.

Mark Chapman is scheduled to present 5 Live Sport tomorrow. Alex Scott is scheduled for Football Focus and Jason Mohammad for Final Score.  I believe Chapman did do 5 Live Sport all day then MOTD on FA Cup Third Round or Fourth Round Saturday, and is the most senior stand-in of the above trio, so would be most likely to fill in.

Gabby Logan would most likely already be in Edinburgh for Sunday's rugby coverage.

RE: Gary Lineker/BBC Asylum Controversy - thePineapple - 10-03-2023

Regarding Richard Osman's stance, I see no reason why him tweeting in support of Lineker is any different to what Lineker said himself - they both freelance for the BBC (or at least I assume Osman is), but Tim Davie hasn't pulled him aside, and there's been no anti-Osman headlines.

This is what I don't get - this obsession with Lineker in particular is purely arbitrary, from what I can make out.

RE: Gary Lineker/BBC Asylum Controversy - London Lite - 10-03-2023

Ian Wright isn't on MOTD tomorrow in solidarity with Lineker.
