By the sounds of it, MOTD is in complete and utter meltdown behind the scenes

He already works for other broadcasters and runs a successful podcast production company. He's not going to be sitting at home bored and broke

There will need to be a BBC U-turn I think.

Don't worry, I'm sure Amol Rajan can fill in if no one else will do it. He already does every other programme on the BBC.

Manish Bhasin might get the call up at this rate
And some of the newer pundits who don’t have the same reputation to be able to make a stand and it not effect their career

This is what I don't get - this obsession with Lineker in particular is purely arbitrary, from what I can make out.
Does Osman freelance for the BBC or does he appear on independent productions that are commissioned by or broadcast on it?
Richard Osman famously was an employee of Endemol who ended up presenting one of their programmes. That's now part of Banjay who make both Pointless and House of Games, he stopped being an employee of them when his career picked up.
So no, he's freelance and has never AFAIK been a BBC employee

Mike Bushell should host, he’d no doubt love the limelight

As it stands there either won't be a MOTD tomorrow night, or it'll be highlights only and no studio content
